I wouldn't mind Oubre for 31. He's shown flashes at the pro level and would certainly improve next to Luka. I'd give up 18+31 for Buddy. I'm also comfortable picking at 18+31 or packaging both to trade up.

Fleece Houston for Tucker, sign Millsap to a two year deal and then get Oubre/Buddy/1 or 2 picks seems like a decent enough offseason. If KP comes back healthy you could flip tucker at the TDL if the opportunity arises.
This is either:
1. Bargain bin buy for the Mavs
2. Donnie doing his buddy a favor and making sure he gets paid(similar to Horford last offseason)
(11-17-2020, 05:33 PM)loki Wrote: [ -> ]He did an interview where he said his priority was to get paid. The rumor was that Toronto didn't want to go above $20M a year, so that could open the door for someone to lure him away. But I think he's content with staying put if the money is equal.

The problem I'd have with outbidding Toronto for his services is that I have supreme confidence in Toronto's ability to evaluate players.

Why doesn´t Ainge simply extend Hayward or why doesn´t Hayward wait to sign an extension next summer?

He´s a starter on a title contender after all.

Why does Danny Ainge, one of the league´s leading GMs, decide that he does not want to hand such an extension to Gordon Hayward.

What are his concerns? Cause they should be ours.

I think you're completely missing the larger point. It's Hayward that wants out, even if he has to turn down $34mm to do it. If Horford and Hayward bolt in back-to-back years while Ainge is actively trying to deal Kemba already, the real question is what is wrong with Boston? I'm getting bad vibes from them lately.

(11-17-2020, 05:19 PM)StepBackJay Wrote: [ -> ]I don't know that there are big injury concerns with Hayward. He had a freak injury that's now a couple years removed and he's looking more like his old self. He would fit much better in the Mavs' offense.
He suffered a horrible foot & ankle injury and needed 12 months to return to a reasonable level.

Now he suffered another ankle injury, came back played five games, averaged 11/4/3, while shooting 40% from the field and 29% from the 3pt line.

And NOW he wants a new big contract. I wonder why?

This is such an obvious play from Hayward´s side. He wants his last big contract, worried that he turns into hot garbage the next time he steps onto a court, thereby ruining all his 2021 FA prospects.

Ainge aside how can people not see through his play. He desperately wants to get paid now, that´s why his agent was pumping out all these articles for months about how awesome and available he is.

This has Parsons 2.0 written all over it. So many red flags.

Ye not sure why the Mavs would even want to extend him early? He is the ideal rental candidate. Play out the season and show what you got.

If not, good luck on the Knicks or ATL.

Exactly. I´d still be un-impressed, but if they extend Hayward immediately, Duffy will start having words with Luka about which beach he likes more Venice or South.

Like those offers from all the lottery teams really exist. Maybe Atlanta does, if their GM is pressured into winning now.

Otherwise why in the world would any rebuilding team offer Gordon Hayward a 60/3 extension NOW, that averages out to 100/4 over the next four years. Ainge already called his bluff. Heck Ainge might already be at work, trying to pump up Hayward´s value in collaboration with Hayward´s agent, spreading all these rumours himself.

That Ainge is ruthless, looked at his roster, looked at the moves by the Bucks/Nets and decided: gave it a try with Kemba/Hayward. Will never be good enough to win a title. I need different players around Tatum/Brown/Smart.

Well I made my position clear on how I feel about a Hayward trade and extension. Lots of I told you so´s in all your futures, if that deal goes through. Wink
I really need some updated Mavs rumors.

I'm completely fine with drafting 18,31 and signing someone with the MLE. I'm not making deals to just make deals.

Oh, I am, too, if the alternative is to make a deal I don't like. I realize that you're saying Hayward IS a deal you don't like. For me, it could potentially be an off the wall double or even a sliding triple, depending on the details.

No I agree it could be a big time hit... I think we probably just differ on the details is all.

I'd love Hayward here on reasonable trade compensation plus salary compensation.

I also don't mind trading for him on his current deal and evaluating again next summer.
One last thing: Usually whatever we dicuss excessively doesn´t happen, so you can thank me later for the last few pages. Big Grin
(11-17-2020, 12:53 PM)Scott41theMavs Wrote: [ -> ]Doesn't seem like there's a lot left on the trading board.

My Mavs possibilities that are desirable ranked:
1) Lavine
2) Moving up in the draft for Hayes
3) Hield
4) Moving up in the draft for Vassell
5) OPJ (forgot him at first!!!)
6) Rubio
7) Simply moving up higher in the teens in the draft to have a better shot at a contributing player
8) Fournier
9) Aaron Gordon
10) Tucker for not much
12) Dipo for real damn cheap (like 31 and Wright)
13) Danny Green if it costs less than nothing

Remind me what I'm missing out on. The top 8 are dynamically desirable to me; i.e. they'd be good news. I didn't put Beal because we aren't getting Beal. Ditto Gobert and Myles Turner. No Oubre for the same reason as no Kevin Knox nor DSJ.

Wow, this was already 15 pages back - with the Mavs doing nothing of note. We're acting like a kicked-over ant farm. Updated to remove Hayward. 2019 of all people has convinced me - remember rule number one.
I have my worries about his injury history but GH is no parsons. Parsons had microfracture  knee surgery. You don't come back from that one the same. Correct me if I have the wrong type of knee surgery that's bad. ha.
So now there's a rumor that all three cap space teams: Atlanta, NY and Charlotte, have kicked the tires. LEVERAGE.

Could be Dallas, could be Indiana. But this is happening, in my opinion.
Saw this on Twitter and had a chuckle.

If Mavs add Hayward.

What's rule #1?
Is it I'm number 1?

Never trade with Danny Ainge.

Indiana actually makes sense, if Ainge was really after Jrue Holiday hard. Oladipo is a discount Holiday. *fingers crossed*

Here's a new one... 3 team it. Hayward to Indy, Dipo to Dallas, THJ to Boston.
It's a gamble on Dallas end for sure. But if you make the determination that THJ isn't here next year I'm all over the gamble at that point.

It won't be for Oladipo. You're not getting it.

Pretend he's a free agent. Because that's essentially what he is.
