Did everyone not watch the 3 games he played against the Mavs last year?  He was absolute trash in all 3 games.  He scored 19 points total and was like 6 for 35 in 71 minutes on the floor. We have a guy very much like him only not Serbian. His name is Tim, and he is already grossly overpaid.  We don’t need 2.  You’re  basically throwing $40m at one spot for 2 average guys that are rarely a difference maker.  If you can turn Hardaway into a true #3 guy....go for it. Until then, strong pass.

Yeah, ultimately, my guess is that the Mavericks would rather have Richardson and THJ's very modest cap holds as a starting point next year rather than Bogdanovic. But, there's no way to know for sure.

This very well may be the case. I'm a fan of his for sure. But yeah I could see them saying they want to just keep THJ.

I also think there's a scenario where neither THJ or Bog is the guy and Richardson is the guy. That would mean Hayward is the play most likely.

I think it's easier to find playmaking guards than a playmaking wing. I don't mind having a smaller lineup because Luka is essentially the SF on the defensive side. But if you say you want to go bigger I don't mind that route either. That also could be how you keep someone like DFS at the 4.
Might be a favor for his agent(these guys represent a ton of euro players)

Why couldn’t Bogdanovic and Hardaway both be on the court for minutes? Bogi is a bigger dude and our point guard is already huge. I’m not seeing why positions matter anymore anyways

Besides, Rick been running out 3 guard lineups since forever(and it works)
We're worried about getting Bogi because it benches THJ? We're already going to be playing a three-guard lineup with Luka-JR-THJ. Why not a four-guard lineup with Luka-Bogi-JR-THJ? If you liked THJ at sg, you'll LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE him at power forward!!!!!!111!!!11!!!1!1!!

To be fair, we did have one of the better defenses in the league last year.

They'll be on the court together whenever we face the team that we trade Timmy to.
I like both Hardaway and Bogdan. A lot, actually. They are really useful players. And, Bogdan could definitely uptick next to Luka. I see it for sure. I’m more opposed to the price. As long as we have THJ, the Mavs have bigger needs in my view. I think that need right now is at the 4, and I hope that’s where they go next. Once that is resolved, I can get on board with Bogdan 100%.

In all genuine seriousness, that's a pretty uproarious claim. THJ got a ludicrous contract coming off of a high-stats year on an Eastern Conference bottom feeder from the bottom feeder to end all bottom feeders. He's got one skill, which he wasn't that great at until this past year. He's worth $12-13 mil a year, not $19.

Aldridge

Definitely a name that's available, since it doesn't seem like he's going to GSW, after all.

I don't know if I lapped up too much Mavs flavored DRANK last night, or what, but I'm now pretty convinced that they're not looking at the old, crusty vets this time around. I know it's against type, but for them to not only keep the picks (so far) but pull freaking Josh Richardson of all people out of the trade bag...idk, I just feel like they did an internal poll and made a decision to add more young guys to the nucleus.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't expect anyone older than Gallo, who I believe who be the oldest rotation player here BY FAR, and part of me really believes they're trying to land a young guy like Wood or Grant. I don't know if they'll be successful, but it would fit with what they've done so far. Who on this team is Milsap or Aldridge even going to talk to, BAREA? He's going to be speaking spanish...you know, with the eastern europeans.

I tend to think that people are underrating Richardson's creational ability. Pretty sure he's a better creator than Seth was, at any rate, and certainly more than THJ and probably not much worse than Bogi.

I would rather offer the Bogi money to Grant. If nothing else, you hurt Denver by making them match it (not by means of an offer sheet, since we have no cap room, but by two-way negotiation). If you can land Grant (pun intended), you then trade THJ for OPJ.

Luka
JR
OPJ
Grant
KP

I'd actually see that as the best we could do this offseason as far as building a starting lineup.
Everyone says we need a 4. I think we need a 5 that can shoot and play a bit of 4 as insurance on KP.

Would you do THJ+? for Aldridge?

Shooters at the volume and percentages of THJ (200 made 3s at around 40%) cost 15-20 mill consistently.
If THJ repeats he'll get a nice pay day.

I'm with KL on this - entirely too old.

Not enough shot creation as Luka would need to initiate all of the offense.

Everyone is saying 4 because they consider KP a 5. You seem to believe he's a 4, so that's where the confusion is coming from.

Doesn't matter what you call the positions, they need the Powell guy (if it's a big), OR the big ass wing style 4 (Grant/OPJ) if you want to be more switchable. That's the starting spot that's missing.

I have a difficult time not seeing Luka/JR/THJ/??/KP being the staring lineup next season. And my God, could that be rad.

EDIT: I might have misread your meaning above. If you're suggesting that they need to find KP's BACKUP, with the intention of moving him to the bench after KP comes back, then that might be exactly what they're doing with Wright/Jackson.

I remember the bubble game against in SAC in OT. He was like 1-11 on threes. The only 3 point he made was at the last minute of OT. Guy was atrocious on his shots.

I will concede, that in the next game after losing to Mavs, he went off for 35 points.

Yeah Bogi is like THJ, a shooter, offensive specialist, but Timmy seems to get better consistency. Plus, if you seen THJ instagram, the guy's been actively working out, re-training his handles to be more adept at getting to the basket. Double, hard pass on Bogi.
I’ll pass on Bogi too, I’d rather use the “assets” to get OPJ (and try to keep THJ at the same time...I’ve decided to revive that dream)

This must have been one of the troll posts that got you kudos earlier this evening, since you left out the line I wrote above what you quoted: I tend to think that people are underrating Richardson's creational ability. As much as I hate THJ defense, I love his 3point shooting. THJ can be very much a balanced player if he just improves his lateral speed, stronger core, and better handles to be able to take it to the basket instead of just staying stationary on the the 3 point line. His best games is when he involves a mix of shooting and slashing. Worst games is when he just stands waiting for the pass.

I am intrigued by Richardson, too. That last Miami year was quite nice.
Aldridge.....I love that guy. I won’t comment on fit (as if anyone cares anyway), but I assume SA wants a haul, or they’ll just let it ride to the deadline and dangle him again.

Yes your edit got it. KP is a 5 and that's been my take since before they finally moved him there last year lol.

I'm personally fine with DFS at the 4 starting. If you don't think DFS is your starter at 3 or 4... I may even want to move him. I have my concerns about DFS off the bench due to his non offensive creation other than hustle plays

The move for LA would be more of a backup center but insurance in case KP has further issues.
My biggest issue with Richardson offensively is that he's not good in the PNR. It's definitely attributed to his poor shooting #s there. he's clearly more of a catch an open shot type player and not a create his own shot off the play like THJ.

He may be a better playmaker in that regard.... But I'm not sure it's effective.

I personally want a guy who can do both. I think Bogi is that guy.
An actual pg that can shoot is also that guy. FVV would be an excellent get if you want to go that route instead.

Richardson is a below average creator.
