Kind of weak to copy/paste premium articles. I think summarizing an article in your own words is fair game but just copying is weak.

We ask to copy and paste highlights a person thinks is most relevant, not full articles.

About all the questions about "what is next" for the NBA....about draft, free agency, and season start timelines, etc.

DRAFT: Nov 18

FREE AGENCY: Dec 1?

Season Start: Jan 18? (the league will give at least an eight week heads up before season starts, so shortly after the draft we might get a final date set)

And first and most important thing will be to set cap for 2020/21 and hopefully 21/22 season. This should happen beginning of November

I deleted a Hollinger article that had a good timeline of what to expect the next couple of months.  Didn't want to offend anyone.  I would say those of you that have access to the Athletic, there is an excellent KP story out regarding his injury.
Here's one for the "everyone hates Carlisle" crowd. It's simply not true. I know this is Fish, and that he's consistently pro-mavs management, but in the article (by Trigg) there's an actual quote from WCS that leaves no doubt.

If WCS really falls in love with the work then the Mavs have their answer at big man next to KP.

Yeah, maybe. And even if he's only ever the first big off the bench, that's still a REALLY important role, and he is definitely the kind of long, swift footed, switchable 5 that all teams need right now, whether they realize it yet or not.

I'm glad he's here.
Come on Rick, work your magic! Make WCS the next reclamation!!

Maybe? He was the 6th pick in the draft for a reason. He has all the potential in the world.

If he works on....

1) ...his corner three.
2) ...his rolling to the rim.
3) ...his perimeter defense and footwork.

Then how would he not be exactly what the Mavs want next to KP?

He was drafted by Divac, so that 6th spot doesn't really mean a lot Smile

lol, I was agreeing with you. I think he's the exact type of guy they're looking for.

But, I also think Javale McGee and Nerlens Noel were the type of 5 Carlisle was looking for back then, too. They had the tools, too, and likely tried pretty hard to make it. I'm just saying, in the event that he doesn't reach the absolute peak of our hopes for him, his attitude could STILL make him a really valuable contributor.

I recently watched all the full games I could find on YouTube from the 2011 playoff run. I had forgotten how often Haywood helped them off the bench that year. He was IMPORTANT.

Yep...Haywood is criminally underrated and forgotten about contributor to winning a title...he accepted a backseat to Tyson and gave effort when he played...
So, WCS's "Ferdinand the Bull" work ethic was always the big knock on him, and now he's willing to work and develop. Add that to the Powell-smashing skillset, physical profile, and athletic gifts he brings to the table, and if this comes to fruition, then I don't ever want to hear about "everything the Mavs have invested in Powell" again. Unless we trade Maxi, in that scenario, Powell becomes in the most uncontrovertible terms, a deep-bench, dead money towel-waver.

This is going to be a long wait.

Windhorst is obvious speculating, but he is a recognized media guy now. And when he says stuff lije that it gains attention.
Yes, it's totally understandable that people don't want to get their hopes up this time around. Really, I get that, and I'm experiencing the same doubts.

But, it's important to understand that this time, we're not getting it from a local guy whose entire living is made generating clicks and interest around the local team. This time, it's an idea that makes sense to people who follow the league on a national level. That doesn't mean it's going to happen, but it's not insane like those other cap space swings were.

The biggest if, by far, is whether or not he decides to leave Milwaukee. IF he does, it seems extremely logical to me that the Mavericks will have the best shot to get him. He has a relationship with Nelson, he's a huge fan of Luka and has said so, and whether he realizes it yet or not, what Luka offers is exactly what he needs to get to the next level as an offensive player. The hope is that he realizes that his future is not as an on-ball guy at some point soon, if he hasn't already. If he does...this could happen.

More on WCS:

Click on this tweet and read through the replies. There are some Kings beat writers saying some pretty interesting things. It's not gospel, and I still think Carlisle can get him on the right track, but it's all interesting.
