All I'm saying is that whether you believe this rumor is legit or you think it's a smokescreen, there's a reason it's leaking TODAY.
If it's true, I'd say #18 is the point, from Brooklyn's perspective.
If it's not true this is Brooklyn trying to get another team to come off of their pick by implying that Dallas is willing to spend #18.

Brooklyn: Harden
Dallas: Prince and Tucker
Houston: LeVert, Dinwiddie, Wright, Jackson, 18, 19, 31, 55 and 4 future Brooklyn 1st with pick swaps
Could even involve a 4th team to take Dinwiddie for picks
Kyrie
Harden
Durant
Allen
DeAndre
That still doesn't get it done for Houston. They want someone who can be a star. Levert just isn't that guy. Pick 18 isn't that guy. And a bunch of crappy Brooklyn 1sts doesn't get you excited. They've given every indication neither guy is just getting dumped and they can just deal with it.
There’s really only 3 teams that seem in on Harden: Philly, Boston and Brooklyn. Houston has stated they don’t want to trade him to Philly even though that’s the best package. We’re about to find out exactly how much control a player has if they demand a trade to a specific team(Harden wants Brooklyn)

The language is past tense, it is very common for leaks to happen after something has died. This could easily be something that happened and then went away.
Reminder of where leaks almost always come from:
1) Agents trying to leverage something.
2) Teams trying to apply pressure.
3) Dead talks.
Look for GSW to get involved in a bigger trade as well. They have the Iggy trade exception and the #2 pick as well as Wiggins in trade

Are you sure those picks will be crappy? With "flatearther" Irving, "just tore my achilles" Durant and "my teammates are to blame for everything" Harden.
I am certain Harden will be traded. It makes no sense to keep him. Perhaps it will last a week, a month or even a couple of months, but he will be traded. Same thing as Kawhi from SA or Butler from Minny.
No it's not a for sure thing. But it's the same gamble New Orleans just made with Jrue. You don't make that gamble with a top 5 player in the league.
You get actual tangible assets that have an extremely high chance at getting a star or being in position to get one.
I'm not sure Harden does get traded. I'd say most likely he doesn't this offseason.
It absolutely makes sense to keep him. He can't leave for 2 years and he's sacrificing alot of money to leave. He's pissed off and frustrated. So you try to repair that and let the anticipation of the trade build up the market some. I actually don't hate the Rockets fire selling the rest of the team around westbrick and harden and then seeing what moves you can pull off.
Have we heard any rumors of Detroit wanting to move up?
If we are talking players with injury issues, I still don't hate Blake Griffin. Only 2 years left on his deal if he opts in after this year. His last full year in Detroit in 2018/2019 he was pretty dang good.
Trading BG could allow them some assets to move up if they so wanted.

Love Prince, but he's really short and he's dead
Wish we could do that Kanter deal. I now he's a defensive liability but he's a bucket on the offensive end and rebounds. I'd love to unleash him as part of the second unit and the 30th pick would be great. I've always liked the dude too.
There's such a premium on picks this year a smart GM would use this opportunity to dump Powell.

I'm okay with this. I know Dallas likes him and wouldn't mind him on the team as we could use the rotational depth but I just can't imagine he'd move the needle for us.
Do they still have room for Hayward? That's a squad and could compete for a late seed.

Hawks making moves this offseason, time to win games.
Hawks going to end up with at least 2 of: Hayward, Gallo, Rondo.
So, a lottery team with a large amount of cap room is going to go get a couple of the really good players involved in that year's free agency.
What a novel idea... (banghead)
Hawks can have Rondo. If they want to pay Hayward 30 mil a year more power to them. Gallo is interesting, but I assume they'd also have to massively overpay given he said he wants to win and would even take a paycut to do so.
Hawks even with all 3 aren't competing with 76ers, Nets, Celtics, Bucks and Heat. So good luck.
