So, now that it seems clear that #10 is sort of the sticking point of the Suns/OKC deal (this is an opinion I've heard and read all day today) then it really, truly does seem like the only "need" to get Dallas, LAC or any other team involved is exactly what that PHX Insider said - that both PHX and Chris Paul are trying to help Rubio and Oubre land in better spots than OKC.

Some will assume that Dallas wanted Oubre. But deep in your hearts, where you're too scared to look, you all know the truth.

There is a team where Rubio might be an awesome fit. It is a team we just discussed a lot how to get our hands on their star.

OKC: THJ
Chi: Rubio, #18, #31
Dal: LaVine

Do we have a mod around here? Can we ban KL for trolling?

I like the out of the box thinking, except I really feel like Chicago's goal is either LaMello Ball or Haliburton with #4.

Dude, I'm (mostly) not even trolling anymore!

Well, they just found out Rubio is available, so they can go for Avdija Smile

GUYS I PROMISE I AM NOT TROLLING GUYS I REALLY BELIEVE THE MAVS LOVE RUBIO GUYS
These dumb teams need to play some hardball.

Presti is going to trade Westbrook/CP3 once each and ends up with four 1st round picks. These are supposed to be awful contracts. Hello. The dumb Magic will probably send Fultz,Ross, Aminu Issac and Bamba to the Rockets.

Translation: "It had better be a multi-year deal, Pat."
KL definitely trolls, but he still cracks me up. My skin's plenty thick; I can take it. He didn't really qualify the VO / THJ comparison with any time frame, so I just wanted to point out that once upon a time in a galaxy, far, far away....

I agree - that version of Oladipo was sick. Would love to get that guy.

He's been remembering and thinking about the time he won a championship with a certain player...

I've just visited the suns Blog at sbn.
They believe in getting CP3 and I buy their logic.
They will give #10 or a future first.

But maybe I just like the Oubre -> Delon + #? angle, if ?=31.

I'm just kidding on KL.. He knows that.
Back to Lavine... If you accept the premise that THJ has positive value and a contending team might pay a first or equal asset for him what type of deal makes sense?

Lakers looking for SG. What about instead of Derozan they get Hardaway and Curry?
Using the same names in that deal..

Dallas gets Lavine and Danny Green.
Chicago gets Kuzma, 18, 31 and possibly lakers 1st this year?
Lakers get THJ and Curry.

Throw in Bradley and Cook for salary matching and I think it works.
Why do I have a feeling that this is going to be the second annual NBA Offseason Musical Chairs in which the Mavs come away with none of the various high-level targets? "And so the poor Mavs had none." This is why they need to ***scout*** and just pick well at 18. Then they at least have something to show for the offseason...

Edit: To be fair, they have several times more excuse this year to strike out than last year - no cap room as well as no trade assets, unlike having a king's ransom in cap room last year and coming away with Knicks-like results.
