I'm a little surprised at how little league-wide activity there is other than the Paul trade. Everyone's waiting for the draft. Perhaps SBJ is right and the only reason for the draft for the Mavs is to be able to make their trade then (Stepien rule).

The rule didn't stop Lakers to announce their deal two days before draft.

To David: You are welcome here!
How those insiders predicting a boring offseason were wrong. We already saw one huge deal. JRue, Dipo, Hayward and potentially Gobert, Harden and Westbrook are waiting in the line. Huge amount of contracts will change teams.

Reading between the lines I would argue otherwise....he ALWAYS hedges with the status quo but he is a lot more honest about the possibilities than normal in my opinion.
I personally think we see something on draft night.

Quote:No. 18 is definitely a highly coveted pick. And at 31, we feel really good about that one as well. We’re literally in the swing of trying to figure out who goes where, and there’s trade-up and trade-down scenarios. There’s all kind of stuff going on....
We really like the picks. [salesmanship/gamesmanship] Whoever we get at 18 is going to be a good young player in a deep draft. And at 31, we have almost the same optimism of that area as we had with (Jalen) Brunson (the 33rd pick in 2018). It’s a rich top of the second round. So a lot of activity on both of those picks....
If there’s a move that can take us ‘over the top’ into the second round type plateau, then of course we’ll always look at those opportunities.

Right given how we haven't seen activity today I think the deal or deals are going to happen on the clock on draft night. Remember some teams are going to want to know the guy they like is there at 18 or 31 before they pull the trigger on a trade.
I am really needing some fresh Mavs rumors right now
