It's an opening of a trade window. It's not like free agency where there's this big flurry and if you didn't tamper you're screwed.

I guess. I don't know. All the podcasts I listened to with Zach Lowe, Bill Simmons, Locked on, etc. all were building this up. They kept saying how teams haven't been able to trade since February and they're antsy to make moves.

So, domino one is Chris Paul. Then, Jrue Holiday...Harden, whatever.

Once those situations become clear, you'll see other moves start to happen. MOST trades are contingent on the fall outs of those trades.

This is also very true....teams wanting to get in on the scraps of these big trades will wait till the dust settles before moving on to other deals.

...and many of those will likely have to wait until the draft due to the Stepien rule.

Just sayin my amazing perfect no way stupid sleep deprived 4 team trade last night that sent Harden to the Nuggets also abided by this rule of thought.

So the first domino in my mega trade has fallen.

I'm actually ok with this. Exhausting all your remaining assets for a non all star(well since 2013) gave me huge pause especially since he's expiring.

If he doesn't go to the Nets, I see the Eastern Conference move as a big win for the Mavs. That would increase his chances of leaving in FA next year which is good for the Mavs.

Rumours of massive overpays for Danny Green, Lou Williams and Joe Harris.

You mean: Halleluka there are no trades.

I have zero faith this doesn´t end in another disaster. JJB and Courtney Lee extensions, AND trading #18+31 for two has-beens in their mid 30s.

Giannis: I see old people, I want to leave Milwaukee.
Mavs: Let´s trade picks for more old guys.

Maybe the Mavs plan is to set the bar so low, that we all less devastated when it´s Oladipo for all future assets and bargain contracts.
I would happily exhaust all our trade assets for a player like Jrue.

I think the KP trade was an aberration.  Seems like it has raised everyone's expectations.  We dont have a lot of trade assets.  People keep saying I'm only trading #18 in a trade for a star.  I see Lavine trades with a big bag of nothing going back to Chicago.  I guess it's possible we take advantage of another terrible front office.
Dwight gone yet?

Your bit is my absolute favorite thing about the board, I think.

For me... It's that you have a long list of free agents next year to go and get to be your 3rd piece. We aren't talking max guys. Next year is just a great free agent year. Jrue is one of those.

I don't want to exhaust all of our assets on a guy like Jrue and have him walk. Ideally if you want one of those guys you keep your assets and then sign that guy with 0 loss to your assets.

I'm not plan powder because I'll gladly exhaust every penny of it for someone long term under contract that I really like. But I'm team patience while being smart with your assets.

Trading all of our assets for anyone expiring gives me huge pause. It's not just Jrue.

He worked on his ball handling skills while he was out so that he can play guard next to Luka. Expect an additional contract extention to be announced soon. Also, pavement next to Dirk's statue is being marked off to reserve space for DP's statue. It's going to be high tech. It's actually going to float...forever. Looking forward to the future Nowitzki Way, Powell Drive intersection too. Also, since DP has a little time before training camp, he's flying out to Trump's golf course to negotiate the continuation of Democracy on behalf of planet earth.

I think somewhere in there, Dougie, he's going to make time to come to your birthday party as well. He'll wear a mask, though, and bring an air cleaner to install at your house for the party, and some newly bottled, 90% effective, vaccine for all the party goers.

OKC just traded Schroeder for #28, so why in the world should we trade #18 for older and arguably inferior players like Green and Williams. That has nothing to do with being spoiled.

Also given that Porzingis immediately re-injured a knee, Knicks fans would probably argue they still have a chance to make this a lose-lose-trade. Confused
The only way Dwight is gone is if someone sneaks him onto the next SpaceX launch.
