-#18 for Dipo is too rich for my blood. Too many unknowns (health, what type of contract he's looking for, why he's so bad at basketball). You could probably talk me into #31 to kick those tires.
-#18 for Hield makes more sense for me because at least you understand his contract. He'd also help out a lot in the clutch which was our biggest shortcoming last season. Can Luka and Hield co-exist defensively? How will he and Rick get along?
-Hayward will opt in and get traded, I just don't think it will be us. Maybe Ainge will do us a favor and take Powell back for him. Ha!
-We have every reason to improve the team since we don't own our draft pick next year and Giannis is off the board.
-We need to figure out the hole that KP/WCS is going to leave on this team. Popular names: Wood, Millsap, Grant. Would anyone be opposed to picking up the phone and seeing how Dwight Howard is doing these days?
-I love what THJ has done here but I also don't think he'd accept an extension for the type of money I'd want to pay him.

All the sellers are getting smart and taking advantage of desperate teams. Hopefully sanity is restored at some point. All those picks for an expiring Jrue was ridiculous.
Yeah, Oladipo has never been high on my list, either.

But, it’s a name that’s still out there, so it’s worth keeping on the radar.

I would prefer Hield, Hayward or trading up, I think. OR YOU KNOW WHO
Get riding off THJ for Buddy or Oladipo for me is a lateral move at best. If anything you try to get rid of Wright/Powell for either. Even if it takes #18 and/or #31.

Otherwise you are better off picking at #18 and/or #31. And have THJ still. Buddy is the same age as THJ, and his contract is meh. Oladipo is expiring and an unknown, and probably wants the max as well. You lose a pick for him as well, no thanks. I wouldn't even do Oladipo for THJ and 31.
I'm not super high on Dipo either.  More of an intriguing name.  I do think he has better long term potential fit/upside than Hield or THJ.  Hield/THJ feels like you're going to be the Nash Suns or current Rockets.  Fun high scoring team that wins a lot but is never a real contender.

Should happen naturally as a lot of the bigger names have warts:

-Hayward:  injury concerns, expiring, expensive, Boston in cap hell
-Dipo:  injury concerns, expiring, only one standout season, wants a huge contract, sabotaged his value with the Pacers by asking other teams to acquire him.
-Hield:  Will not return his coaches calls, plays no defense, has a fairly large/long contract, will the Kings even trade him now that Bogdan is gone
-Beal:  Can't afford him and I personally think he's overrated at this point as he is a defensive liability.  Maybe he'd improve on a winning team but again, can't afford him.
-Harden:  He's had enough teammates that it's time to start blaming him and not everyone else.  Too expensive.  Can't co-exist with Luka.
-Westbrook:  Can't co-exist with Luka.  Way too expensive.  He needs to be a solo act, it's just too bad he picked a team sport.

The case for Dipo is that he'd be an upgrade to THJ on defense.  The case for Hield is he's a bucket waiting to happen and can more easily create his own shot.  The case for THJ is that he wants to be here (we shouldn't take that for granted).  18 + 31 isn't enough to move off of Powell.  He's here for the next year.  Unless it is a slam dunk trade, I don't think you can ship out Maxi or DFS because of their defense.  I'd be fine shopping Curry and the picks.  Now that we don't need to worry so much about powder for 21, we can offer players more than one year deals.

The only one I'll disagree with is Harden. I think Philadelphia would give up Simmons, Thybulle, and multiple picks for him. They're as all in as it gets anyway. Definitely not a target for Dallas though.

I think Harden is as good as gone. He'll return a lot of assets and the 76'ers are as good of a fit as anyone for him.
Weapons race will continue with Philly and Nets going all in. Their window is same as Milwaukee, Lakers and Clippers - next few years. I somehow hope Nets go off the market with a Harden trade, which leaves Philly as the main competitor for remaining guys. They desperately need a PG who can shoot (so no Rubio or Bledsoe). Rozier, Sato or one of the SA guys (White for example) seem like remaining options. I still hope for Curry for Richardson deal.

Denver is also ready to contend but they are not desperate. Dipo makes a lot of sense there.

I think you need to stop dreaming about Wright/Powell for Oladipo (and similar) type of trades. It is not going to happen, I think trades so far could give you a feeling about the market prices for borderline all stars. Too many desperate teams there. Either we pay the "desperate" price or hope for internal development.

One cheap option to improve defense and experience on the team would be to go after Tucker and George Hill with Wright, Jackson, second rounders and cash.
I was just thinking about Curry and the 76ers. I don't want Richardson though.

??? Scott+Thybule?
I'd love Thybule, not sure 76ers are going to give him up so easily.
Just caught up with the Windhorst/Lowe pod...they say that the market for both Westbrook and Oladipo is literally non-existent. In Oladipo’s case, Windhorst says that this is due to the idea that trading for a guy like that on an expiring deal is typically done by first negotiating a contract extension, and nobody wants to do that without seeing him play well first.

Thought it was interesting.

I was having a nice night off with my significant other and I come back and see this. OF COURSE THIS HAPPENS WHEN I LEAVE. I swear to god.

FML. RoCo would've been such a positive addition. And what they got for him was relatively nothing. 2 FRP sting and something the Mavs couldn't have matched I suppose...
Here is my prediction for the remainder of the offseason:
Atlanta - keep #6, drive up price of free agents for their current teams
Boston - trade Hayward (if he doesn't opt out) for center. Try to move up in the draft with their picks
Brooklyn - Harden or stay put
Chicago - try to sell high or stay put
Charlotte - they have some pieces (Rozier) to charge to a desperate team like Philly. Might go crazy and trade for Westbrook
Cleveland - ??? Nothing really interesting there, good players they have are way overpaid
Denver - trade for Dipo
Detroit - sell Kennard, Rose and cap space as expensively as possible
GSW - ??? Might keep #2, might trade for Gordon
Houston - sell everyone for as many assets as possible
Indiana - trade Dipo if the offer is good enough. Trade Turner for Hayward or similar? They might also decide to go for one more try
Clippers - trade for a PG (Rubio, Bledsoe)
Lakers - mostly done
Grizzlies - nothing, unless someone is willing to pay for their centers (Dieng, Valanciunas)
Miami - with GA gone, this is a big question. Go after FVV or similar? This would make Dragic available
Milwaukee - done (not counting vet min they sign)
Minny - try to sell first rounder, I don't think there will be takers
Pelicans - try to move up?
Knicks - try to move up
OKC - gather more assets?
Orlando - ??? More and more it looks like they will run it for another year. Perhaps trade up with Gordon (Phoenix?, GSW?)
Philly - desperately trade for PG and shooters
Phoenix - stay put or trade #10 for another starter?
Portland - mostly done
Sacramento - My guess would be they are mostly done. Unless they think DiVinzenzo is a starter and they trade Hield
San Antonio - Trade Mills and Gay to Philly for Horford
Toronto - explore FA?
Utah - stay put
Washington - mostly stay put
Bulls are getting ready to do something IMO with their news of yesterday. I find myself wanting LaVine more and more. Although it looks like the assets needed to acquire him are getting higher and higher. However, the teams desperate enough to make this abnormally high market are going away too. That in turn makes the teams wanting to move on, like (hopefully) the Bulls with LaVine become the desperate teams...hopefully. Either that, or they stand pat.
If we could manage to get Dipo and Tucker without giving up anything crazy I think that would be a pretty good offseason.

He would be exactly what we need in the short term. But:

I am not really inclined to pay #31 for him. I am affraid he will be unhappy if the team doesn't give him an extension, which I also don't really want to do.

As for competition: what does Miami have to trade for him? Jones SnT? Phoenix might be a serious contender for him, willing to pay more. Kaminsky + pick(s)

You can have our 2021 2nd round pick or Jalen Brunson.  If you do better, congrats.

Also, Tucker owes Maxi a new pair of kicks.
