And there it is.

Most of the people who want the guy think he'd be cheap. I do not anticipate that being the case.

For the record, IF he's cheap, you absolutely do it.

In the end, I just don't see a fit between these two teams, even if Dallas gives up every asset available. Just my take.

Just say you don't want the guy Smile
Salary doesn't match anyway. Where's Keith Van Horn when you need him?
Well we still have Jackson+Boban. That would not be a problem.

Also just make your trades with THJ/OPJ, cause neither of them will opt out. What they going to do? Sign for the MLE somewhere. Please. They´ll both opt in, if the Mavs/Bulls threatened to trade them to Greenland.

I'm thinking that the provisions on options do not allow deals to be done until the options expire. So the deal would not be legal on draft day, nor until the close of business on Thursday (the day after the draft being the normal deadline). Not saying that that rules out a day-after-draft trade based on your argument, but it's still iffy from where I'm sitting.

I think the player can take his option before the deadline.
Okay. '17-'18 Victor Oladipo was a bad, bad man and nearly took down the eventual Eastern Conference Champ Cavs in the playoffs all by himself. Tim Hardaway, Jr. could not have done that even if the league required Lebron to play with his legs duct taped together.
On Dipo, he is severely underrated on these boards. He is gettable I think for 18 bc teams aren't going to offer the Pacers a better deal than that. They can want players all day long but it doesn't mean they are going to get them. Dipo is expiring which lowers his value. Mavs will take a chance. I still think this is one of the better options out there if THJ is legally able to be traded. He is not going to remove any of his leverage on his own so what really matters is what the league and player's union decides. If the deadline if before the draft then I think 18+THJ is a really solid offer to the Pacers.

This. And I am generally pro-THJ in that I don't think we need to give him away or anything.

I bet a Pterodactyl would make an insanely interesting pet, provided you had a big enough cage. Oh, wait - they're extinct? Yeah, so is '17-'18 Oladipo.
Someone here likes Bonga a lot, so here is an idea for you. WCS (if he opts in, of course)-Bonga straight up.

https://theathletic.com/2195618/2020/11/...y-centers/

I honestly think WCS will not be more than third string center in Dallas behind KP and Powell, but that he could be even a starting center for a team that is looking for cheap option at the position (Houston, Boston, Washington). Denver and probably more will be most likely looking for cheap back ups. So, if someone is willing to part with an asset for him, I would gladly accept and sign someone like Hartenstein as my third string center.

That's way too much to give for him. Look at his play the last two years when healthy, the off-court crap, etc. He's attractive based on the opportunity for double big-contract expiration, so no THJ. The chances of him being here in 2021 (if he's good, he'll go elsewhere; if not, we won't keep him) are direly slim, so it's too much to give a cheap contract guy (18) who has a small but by no means non-existent possibility of being better than post-injury Dipo.

I can stomach 18 + Wright/Jackson for him, or 31 + THJ for him. 18 + THJ would dynamically piss me off.

No, you din't!!!

Omahen, please buy a calendar. Season starts on 22 December. Neither KP nor DP is going to be in starting condition. I get that you deplore WCS, but whoever the so-called third-string center is will be starting on opening day. Unless the fourth-string center is (Bobi).

Which you assume, but don't know for sure Smile Theoretically, if the price is THJ+#18, I think it is extremely small risk from our side. We could gain a lot from Dipo in his contract year (even his post injury version is a better defender than THJ) and keep our flexibility. If he doesn't work out - well, we would not be contenders with THJ either.

That's all true, to a point. I would submit that the downside of such a deal could potentially be not making the playoffs, and I'm not ok with that.

It is possible that Oladipo regains the form of that one, great year. But, it's not like he hasn't played since the injury. You're correct that I don't KNOW it won't happen, but I think you're underselling the probability that it won't happen. Just my opinion. They vary.

I, personally, would pass.

Neither of them plus WCS were available in playoffs. Maxi and Bobi covered the hole just fine. Add Hartenstein to the mix and I am sure we can survive just fine. Point with Hartenstein - I see him more likely to brake through and drastically increase his value than WCS.
On WCS, I think the answer is in between @"omahen" and @"Scott41theMavs".

I think Omahen is closer on his evaluation of the guy's role here going into the season, but I don't think it's a forgone conclusion that he won't have a chance to improve that. I also don't think he's got a better opportunity waiting for him anywhere (at least on a good team).

I think WCS's situation in Dallas this year is hard to predict. Could break either way, imo.

So someone found some 17'-18' Oladipo DNA in a piece of Ember and is cloning him?

Unrelated: brb checking if Jurassic Park III is still on prime.

For me it is not so much about WCS, but I would really like to give a chance to Hartenstein. He was totally overlooked in Houston but showed huge potential in G-league and even those couple of games in Houston he got a chance to play serious minutes.

I really don't understand why you keep bringing the 2017-2018 season up. THJ+#18 is not a price for that version of Dipo. It is a price for 2020 DIPO. If he comes back to 2018-2019 Dipo, it would be a huge upgrade over THJ.
I think for sure CP3 to the Suns is happening but no #10 bc that's just stupid. OKC will get Rubio + Oubre that they can flip again and probably the Suns 2021 1st rounder.

I don't think I could identify anything than pre-Indy, pre-injury and post-injury.
Was just stuck on the Pterodactyl thing.

I think that is a great deal for OKC. Oubre is another non lottery first rounder and Rubio is also not a negative contract. Or they can keep him and trade Schroeder for another first rounder. I mean, who can offer more? Philly with Horford or Harris going to OKC? Milwaukee with Bledsoe and DiVinzenzo?
