Obviously very different than a guy like Crowder but if team's are going to zone up against Dallas and concede open looks you really need another guy who can knock down open shots. THJ is streaky but he's a zone buster if he can stay on the floor defensively.

I think THJ will be in the mix and then we need someone who is more of a 2-way guy also competing for minutes. Frank helped in the Suns series so I am good with him being developed (still only 23!).

But whether he is actually a good candidate depends on PHX -- I don't know that PHX is looking to move him, and likely they would want value in return if they did. Although who knows, maybe they need to reduce salary in order to pay Ayton, where "salary reduction" is the value.

I would love Crowder but I am not getting my hopes up for that type of deal.

I really like this a lot. It doesn't solve our dire need for a productive center, but it does reinforce the way we like to play currently and give us more wing depth.

I like Washington but also have concerns whether or not he can survive 30mpg like Maxi, which means I'd call up OKC and get Favors for the TPE. He isn't great, but at least he's a big body. Maybe the Mavs can convince a guy like McGee to come on the cheap instead.

Luka/JB/Hayward/DFS/Maxi as the starting 5, with SD/Green/Bullock/Bertans/Washington coming off the bench.

Too good to be true.
I love Hayward and her fit, I'd even say she's worth her money if she could stay healthy, but..we didn't trade KP(quite younger, and in a position of need) to now get Gordon..if we wanted to take a chance I'd rather roll the dice for Isaak or Warren at half salary..no idea...but I don't think the Hornets want to get rid of the top 2 players on the deal and suck the longest contract(they have Rozier)..I think PJ is someone to Who do they want in the long term (browsing forums) at least the fans ...
However I sense the 76ers might be more open to turning Harris into a 2 or 3, especially if they get any assets...since they're skinny... Bertans/THJ/#26 for Harris/Bassey

Harris is absurdly overpaid but very solid and Bassey is raw but has the perfect archetype...compared to Capella or Biyombo before the draft... Delete the last 2 years of THJ and the last of DB would be great
RE PHX:

I really like the idea of adding bigger wings who can defend and Crowder is my absolute favorite (as well as a desire to roll back the karma of the Dwight Powell deal)

From Dallas this is two distinct deals and from PHX it rolls into one deal creating 2 TE's

As a Non-Taxpaying team: Dallas trades Sterling Brown and Marquis Chriss ($3.9ish million) and receives Saric ($8.5 million/4.5 or so TE) within the $5 million window.

Dallas then trades a 2nd rd pick to PHX for Crowder ($9.721) into the Trade Exception.

IF as F-Gump opines that the Suns need $$ to tackle retaining Ayton, I would hope to pry a 1st out of PHX for the privilege of dumping $14 million, and Dallas could conceivably land both Saric and Crowder + tip.
IF PHX doesn't want to spend a 1st, I would have them send Dallas 2 seconds in the Saric trade and Dallas would get the option of sending the lowest pick back to PHX in the Crowder deal.

Dallas would then have a glut of PF types but with Hardaway returning and limiting Maxi to a role as a 5-out-5 the roster would conceivably be better balanced.

Luka/JB/Hayward/DFS/Maxi as the starting 5, with SD/Green/Bullock/Bertans/Washington coming off the bench.

With Powell going out and Maxi and Washington being undersized you would probably want some center depth with a little beef.  In this scenario you still have the tax MLE so you might even be able to land a younger center.

Part of me wonders if we are sticking with the small ball 5 concept that we might not be better off with someone like Tobias to provide more size at the 4 (and at the 3 as Dorian moves down).  A lineup including Harris/Dorian/Luka should have enough size to make up for an undersized center.  He is healthier and I would much rather be able to send out that Bertans contract than the expiring Powell contract.
Nico…you are on the clock.

Don’t be the Hawks and assume you can run it back.  Evaluate honestly and take another step forward.
Congrats to the guys for a very successful season despite the horrific first couple months. For the first time in a long time, I feel like this team is on the right track as far as the blueprint for building a championship team goes. We don't need to make any huge, playstyle altering trades IMO. Just add more to what we already have.

We could even use this Warriors team as a model as well. I would like to see us target another scorer, playmaker off the bench, ala Jordan Poole. I'd love to see a Wiggins type athletic wing to ease the burden on DFS and Bullock. Then lastly, I'd like to find our own version of Kevon Looney: a versatile big that doesn't command a lot of minutes or money, but can come in and bring some size, rebounding, and toughness when we need it and not get completely killed on switches.

Lets just add to the core of Luka/Brunson/Dinwiddie/DFS/Bullock/Maxi and go from there.
And now we are on Brunson Watch. What happens with him (and how much he gets) will set the tone of how things will look for the next 3+ years

I'm pretty confident he'll resign.  An interesting thought experiment would be "what if he doesn't?".  lol

I think they should do a S&T for Brunson, and get the big wing they need. If you resign him for the 20 mil per year he's looking for, it's going to handicap the team from making other moves. He's going to be in demand from a lot of teams, and as long as Luka is here, he's not going to run the offense. Brunson can bring one or two of the missing pieces they need, and you already have his replacement in Dinwiddie.

That’s more of a vomit inducing thought experiment!  He is probably going to be “overpaid” but that’s a FO fail that can’t be fixed.

The interesting thought experiment to me is how high would his trade value be right now if they had extended him when they had the chance.  Would have probably been viewed as one of the best value contracts (non-rookie contract division) in the NBA.

Ifs and Buts.

You better bring back someone who can dribble and assist.  lol

Spencer can get you buckets some nights but he isn't going to get other players buckets.  That's a criticism I've always had of Jalen, but Spencer is a whole other level of horse blinders when the ball is in his hands.

Re-signing JB should be the #1 priority. But it can't be the first thing they focus on.

They need to figure out what do do with the pick, and what to do with the TPE, before Brunson negotiations even begin. This summer's upgrades may all happen in June (and they definitely need to add at least one key player who will upgrade them in some way -- you should never just roll the same core team out there again, because if you're not getting better, then you're going backwards when everyone else upgrades their team).

Ever the shrewd negotiator.  Cuban being confident downgrades my confidence.
Simply cannot roll into next season with Dwight Powell as the starting center. Have to improve the wing depth from Ntilikina/Green. Have a few tools to get it done with the pick, TPE, and tax-payer exception. Time to shine Nico.
Problem is all of the teams with bigs that are trade targets are likely starving for 3&D wings and will demand one. Most teams in the league are starving for true 3&D wings really and their value went up even more after watching these playoffs. Bullock has some years left but isn't really on Luka's timeline. Green could be the future. Not sure which one I'd rather give up. Is there a way to replenish the wing depth if one is traded?

That Powell extension.. oof... wasn't a fan the moment it was signed and it has rippled all the way down into potentially costing this team a title on a year where there were lots of injuries and it was up for grabs. All good though, it was still a fun ride. Get em next year.
Glad the offseason is finally over. Now we can focus on what really matters - armchair GM'ing and bickering about the roster.
