If THJ is involved, then Orlando has to send more salary somewhere to generate enough outgoing.  Harris does the trick, but then you either need a third team or Dallas has to send $6mm somewhere and trade design is again a challenge.  Color me dubious.

Same. I put Evan Massey below LegionHoopsRoss on our blue check twitter credibility meter lol.. So half a grain of salt. He's the only one ive seen on this "Mavs pursuing shooters" angle

Not arguing DAL could use help here (applies to most teams though). Any chance this is a smokescreen from the MBT and they are really looking more at 4/5 guys? Maybe cut down on competition to get a deal done?

Don't love it. Ross isnt a shooter either so kind of defeats the purpose.

I would be very dissapointed if Ross is what they do. Doesn't move the needle and will cost an asset to get. I would rather call Washington and ask what else do they give me in THJ-Bertans trade. We would still get a healthy bench shooter and something else.

Bertans is probably a worse version of Ross. Averaging 5.7ppg on 35/32/93 compared to Ross 11pgg on 40.5/31/87. Perhaps it's just a down year and there's hope Bertans returns to form next to Luka, but his contract runs for 3 more years longer than Ross at an extra 38 mil to boot.

Trying to make it make sense:

Magic were rumored to want to dump Ross badly. How badly I'm curious. Is ORL enticed enough for a Bamba+Ross for THJ+M.Brown trade?

Orlando will certainly demand asset for Ross, not attach Bamba to him for a longer term salary. At least I would be very surprised if they didn't.

You would have to attach an asset for me to take on Ross or Bertrans.  Those guys are terrible and their contracts are terrible.

Hey, let´s cover all our bases before making a premature judgment on the whole situation. Does either one have a very popular pdocast? Angel

I agree on Bertans and Washington might be inclined to attach something. I don't believe Orlando would. In any case, THJ is owed way more money.

Ross's contract isn't all that awful (though his play could be considered that way).  Ross/expiring filler for Hardaway would actually be great for us financially.

Can't say I agree with you. Ross is widely viewed as a negative asset. More negative than guys like Powell, THJ, and Burke. Yet you have the Mavs needing to attach assets in deals to get off those guys.

His inefficient production is what makes him so bad and the fact he has another year is why the Magic would need to attach an asset to get any takers. Bamba is probably expendable to them since they have WCJr.

Orlando is in total rebuild and I think they have zero need for THJ. He is basically Ross with more money owed to him for them. That is what I base my valuation at.

The issue is that THJ when healthy isn't basically Ross. He's been one of the more productive starting 2-guards in the league the last 2 years. Further Mosely knows THJ, and was apart of the coaching staff that enabled him to be at his most efficient. Further THJ is from the south Florida area.

I can easily see ORL being interested if it meant moving off of a year of Ross and gaining a potential asset on a declining contract.

Orlando has a horde of young guys in his spot (Hampton, Suggs) that they prefer to develop instead of playing a vet. It has just not been a practice that rebuilding teams give away vets for more expensive vets. Even if THJ contract had value before, it doesn't have now with him injured. I will be happy if they manage it, but I don't see it.

They have them now, too. Harris/Ross combine for 54 MPG, so they easily have room for THJ, even with the return of Isaac and Fultz. They will also need some veteran leadership to guide all those young players. Can they entice a better veteran player to sign up for the project Orlando in free agency? I´m not sure.

The position they´ll need to thin out is the frontcourt. They likely have a top 3 pick PF/C coming through the draft on top of Wagner, Okeke, Isaac, WCJ and Bamba.

A trade package of Harris or Ross + Bamba for X makes a ton of sense for Orlando. Harris + Bamba are both free agents that Orlando is unlikely to retain, so their trade value can´t be that high either.

Nobody knows whether THJ qualifies as a target and how he is valued.
