They have Wendell Moore Jr. with a 6’10.5 wingspan.

I'm not sending out the 2025.  That really hurts our ability to make the big play later down the line if necessary.  Josh and the 2022 would be a tough decision.  Depends on how they evaluate Josh.  Sending out Bullock would require a lot of truest in Green/Frank development, or a lot of trust in THJ being able to fit in defensively.  I didn't realize they already have 3 picks.  That makes this trade less likely to happen in general unless its Bullock.

Dirkfansince1998.

Not advocating those deals.  Just trying to put myself in Charlotte’s shoes.  They don’t have to do anything.  Or, they might think there will be a better market at the TDL.  He’ll be restricted next summer if they don’t extend him.  Maybe they keep him or try to S&T him then.  They still have options and he’s one of their best players in terms of On Court impact.  I suspect if a deal were possible, it would be expensive.  I really think the ask would more likely be Bullock based than youth based.

could be the small ball PF/C we are looking for to compliment Kleber/Powell and he´ll fall, because he is older, too. Averages 20/8/3 with almost 3 BPGs. Improved his 3pt percentage to 37.4% in his third year, but we have a small sample size Justin Anderson alert. I don´t like the shooting mechanics much, but we

I think Liddell makes sense from what little I know about draft prospects.  I also like the French center as a draft and stash.  I’ve seen him as high as the early second lately.

That French center also works out with Holger.

PJ Washington is a favorite of mine as well when looking at players with position flex and potential 5 out candidates.  Again, no clue what his market would look like but would love for the Mavs to find a way to bring him in.

Hayes in NO is another guy worth looking at.

Would love to see the Mavs manage to bring any of those three in and add some more youth that fits Kidd's scheme.

Would be good to land any of these 3.

Absolutely should sell these players and any other FAs/trade targets on the possibility of playing with Luka and getting their numbers + efficiency up, which will make them a ton of money down the road. I think the opportunity of being Luka's roll man has to have bigs seeing dollar signs.
I don’t think PJ Washington or Jaxson Hayes will come cheap. Doubt that either team even really wants or needs to move on from them. Not sure about maturity of Hayes, maybe they’d be willing to move on if they aren’t sold on his work ethic or stability. Jalen Smith would be a great get, but he’d have to want to be here. Seems like some other team would take a flyer at more than the 4.5 we can offer, but you never know.

We can actually offer 7 mil for the tax MLE.  Seems like a reasonable ballpark.
Wonder if Tobias Harris could play some spaceball center ... THJ + Bertans + pick

There's not much difference between the small forward and power forward. I don't know if the "wing" terminology is correct but in my simple mind I think of small forward-power forward as old-school and wing as modern.

Luka, Brunson and Dinwiddie are guards.

DFS, Bullock are wings. THJ is a wing. Green and Ntilikina are probably developing wings who can guard the point-of-attack.

What's special about Maxi is he does the same thing for the 4-5 "power forward-center" role. He's a switchable big who can guard the perimeter, block shots and shoot threes. Seems like someone should coin a new name for this type of player. Something better than "beefy long wing" ...  Spaceball Center?

This was a great post and I like how you assess it. I reply to note that, defensively, I think Luka is the guy who makes it all work because he can rebound with the very best of em. Without that, we’d be seriously exposed playing with a single big (who isn’t even that big).
Thanks Mvossman! I was way off. I think that number(4.5) someone mentioned earlier was stuck in my head. It looks like it starts at 6.3m with annual raises of 5% and can only be for 3yrs. Does seem like we’d have a pretty good shot at him at that number.

I have had thoughts of this nature as well.  He is even less of a rim protector and rebounder than Powell, so we would really be stretching the idea of a center.  But he would make more sense than Dorian (they would work well together) and I like how he generally ups his game in the playoffs.  I could be convinced of a move like this.

The pick would be to us right? That is a giant contract and it has two more full years to run

Harris is the best player in the trade and the Bertans contract is longer.  Its almost like trading Harris for KP and signing Din instead of THJ.
76ers already screwed us on the Curry deal.  You absolutely do not give up picks for Bobi's buddy.

Good point on Luka. His rebounding allows us more flexibility in roster building. His size in general for what he is makes him 1 of 1. We need to build teams Lebron-style where we just find guys that compliment him and his style that makes it easy for everyone
I would definitely look to sign Jalen Smith as the Maxi replacement.  He will be available for the TP-MLE or less.  He is younger than Maxi and still may have some more potential in his ceiling.

The Mavs need to start cycling through some of these older players on the roster that won't fit into Lukas time line soon. The earlier they can get these type of players into their system to develop chemistry with Luka the better.

Exactly. Spot on. Mavs have such a tactical advantage because on any given night their point guard might be the most physical, best rebounder and best post player on the floor. It looked like he backed down DeAndre Ayton just to troll him.

Let's win the West first. If they win a title then they can let all the over-the-hill 29 and 30 year olds go.

Tyson Chandler.
