Gallo also isn't a slouch either. Mavs could probably wrangle a pick out of ATL for eating that salary.

They want outside shooting, need another 4 (badly) and want to lower their payroll for next year so they can sign DFS/Brunson without going into the tax. If they can get Gallinari at a rental price (without giving up one of their current top 7, basically), they should.

BE PREPARED.

If the Mavs could add Dragic and Gallinari without losing any of the rotation players above, they'd have their 9-man playoff rotation in place, and it would be significantly more clear how this team looks.

It's not sexy, but that would be a GOOD trade deadline, imho.

Hmmm the Mavs mouthpiece with no (outside) sources seems rather defensive and passive-aggressive about this question.

I like Gallo. Think he´s a good dude, but the value is in getting off that THJ money.

Yeah, that's a big part of it - that's why I mentioned it in my reasoning!

Tim was pretty good in Atlanta.
Hawks get Siakim + minor piece from Tor
Tor gets KP, DFS
Dall gets Collins, Gallo

Who says no? Or would you rather just have Siakim?

Pretty sure Toronto says no. Can't see them wanting to move Siakam for KP alone. Their main motivation for a KP trade in the first place is to surround him next to Siakam, OG, and Barnes, as that's probably the best case situation for KP to work.

Or does Atlanta get DFS and Siakam and sends something to Toronto?  Either way, I’m down for Collins or Siakam here and we figure out the center position later.

I'd rather have Siakim and I think Dallas would need to throw in draft compensation.  DFS doesn't have much value beyond salary matching.

Would rather have Siakim and get Holmes, but I'm not sure Tor does this even for KP + DFS.
What if the Mavs do absolutely nothing ("We lOvE oUr BoYz In bLue!!!!!!")??  Does the AAC get burned to the ground?

I think we are down to six teams that have not done a trade since January 1st 2022:

Chicago
Minnesota
Dallas
Golden State
Houston
Memphis

Rioting over a team on track to get home court advantage in the playoffs would be a very Mavs fan thing to do. But give it a few wins and people will chill until next summer.
There are three kind of teams at the trade deadline.

1.) Teams that try to win now
2.) Teams that try to set themselves up to win later
3.) The Dallas Mavericks

Big Grin
Mark Cuban can hang the #19 and #21 jerseys from the rafters.  Both belonging to the same untouchable player, TPE.
I wanted to move KP. This is bad
The challenge of a THJ trade without knowing for sure we have Dragic SS&D is that our guard rotation would be extremely suspect at the cost of that piece.

Not saying DO NOT trade but we had either get the piece we want in the trade or KNOW we have a player being added after the TDL
