I just listened to the pod and the Flex guy is a PHX insider. He has an extremely high confidence level that KD will be traded to PHX within the next two weeks. The Ben Simmons part was also bold, in that he said Simmons doesn't want to be there, the Nets don't want him there, and he won't be a Net this year. It was more of a sidebar in what was mostly a 45 minute KD to Suns podcast.

Has it ever been established whether the Mavs could even trade for Simmons?
I know that Luka was gotten via trade but it was a trade before he ever signed an NBA contract. So does that violate the NBA rule about not having two players on designated rookie extension who were acquired via trade?

The Mavs CAN trade for Simmons. Luka does not count toward that rule, his first contract was signed with DAL.

I believe he overlapped with Kidd in Milwaukee for at least a year. Don't really see a fit for him with our roster as is. But if a trade opened up a roster spot or two? Not sure what type of salary he would get though. If more than the minimum, wouldn't be here.
I just think an Ayton and Bridges plus picks is probably not what the Nets want. But maybe a Bridges & Donovan Mitchell pairing is what they are looking for. Utah gets Ayton and the picks. We will see.

Ha. Could be. Or could be a GM who thinks you don't give in to the trade demands of an ALL-NBA player under contract for 4 more years.
If I am the Nets, I tell the Lakers to find another suitor for Westbrook where we can get players that help us know. That may be a dead end and in time they may accept Westbrook plus picks. I assume Lakers aren't offering two picks right now. So I would let them sweat for now.
