I think he would be an upgrade to SD. I think you might likely flip SD into D'Angelo.

Would be Din+ to get D'Angelo. The plus being Green likely.
Minnesota is looking at losing the D-Lo salary slot for nothing. They might go for Dinwiddie/Bertans for D-Lo.

Offensively I think he would likely be better here than in Minny. The rest of the season would be a test run but long term a Luka/D-Lo backcourt is likely a non starter defensively.

Russell is an upgrade to SD, but if you don't like SD defense in the starting lineup, you are not going to like Russell's (who has even less chance of playing 6th man).  Then what in the offseason?  Let him walk?  Pay 30+ mil for him.  What would be the point of this move from a long term perspective?

No chance they take on Bertan's contract.

Probably correct. I guess i’m assuming they would value Dinwiddie next season rather than letting Russell walk for nothing. They’ll have better options i’m sure.

1) I am NOT pushing for this move. Just speculating on the possible interest.

2) There are SO MANY moving parts to this and hypotheticals involved. I would need to know a lot before saying I like this kind of move. How much does DAngelo get in the next contract? How much do you give up to give him? Etc.

3) I just do NOT like the SD fit with Luka at all. I think SD needs to be cashed in on, NOW. I am open to seeing if DAngelo would be a better fit.

4) But DAngelo would be far down the list of possibilities for me. I would explore dozens of other options first.

No one is taking on Din+Bertans for a legit NBA starter, no matter how bad he may suck on defense/

So then THJ is worth all 3!

Also, if he was actually worth that much, they’d be starting him like he wanted from the beginning of all this.

Phoenix has lost their collective minds. When teams stop inquiring about him, they'll drop their asking price.

Yes, I assume they get one of those.    Deadlines make deals and I am sure some team would give up at least one asset.  It would probably be the type of deal we have discussed with Bullock though.    Not a huge haul.

Crowder doesn't look good in this either.    I thought the Suns were right in wanting to start Cam Johnson.  He was ready.  it was not like they were giving Crowder the McGee treatment.  He would have still gotten a lot of playing time.  I really wonder if this is going to hurt Crowder's next contract?   He is probably at MLE money...at best.   But it is not a good look to take your ball and go home just because you are not going to start.

I feel like it has to completely destroy his value long-term. GMs would have been more sympathetic if he was holding out from a team like the Rockets if they were going to start an unproven rookie over him
But getting mad about Cam Johnson on what was considered a contending team?

Nah. He screwed himself completely. I wouldn't be surprised if he retires or ends up in some place like China if they offer more multi-year money
Maybe he can get a decent one year NBA deal

He was fine with the change, he just asked them to trade him so he could get his last opportunity to get a big contract. They (as shown here) asked for waaaaay more than he is worth and he sat out cause they weren’t taking his request seriously. I don’t think it’s hurt his value much if any. He was gonna get a MLE contract before, he’ll most likely get the same after.

If he was fine with the change I think he'd still be with the team.  Even if he had been upset because he didn't think the trade request is being taken seriously, if this was about his next contract then he'd be playing.  He had an interview recently where he said he was upset because "the team didn't value him" or something like that which just shows a bunch of pouting to me.

Even Durant came back and played after his hold-out attempt failed.
This just felt Sprewell level dumb to me.
