This seems about right. LA is in a tough spot. They can’t buy out WB because then they have no shot this year. Other teams know this so they can be tough in negotiations.

Will they spend the extra 1st to get better players or will they accept the lesser players they’re given if they only send out one of the two picks?

It’s big risk for them to give up both picks if Lebron leaves. Which is why i think they settle for only sending out one unprotected 1st with the contract. So it would become about how accommodating are other teams with how much future salary goes to LA. And what are the best quality players they can get
Probably out of the Mavs' price range, but I have a feeling SGA will be the next guy of note who gets moved. Would we be comfortable with the Mavs paying what it took to get him (if they even could)? Do we think he fits?

Have been on the SGA train since the 2018. Was the main reason why I desperately wanted the Mavs to add another pick. Don´t think there is a team where he wouldn´t fit. He can be the primary ballhandler but also excelled in three guard lineups next to CP3 and Schroder.
Would also fit into Kidd´s defensive scheme. Another guard with size that can switch onto most wings.
Question is what it would take to get him. Saw some rumors that after the Knicks failed to land Mitchell they could make an offer for SGA.

SGA would be perfect but i don’t see how it could happen

Sabonis is who i think we should target next. We could have enough salary come off the books his FA year to offer a max dea. Save our assets to fill out the team around them. If we could poach from any team, it would be kangz

I’ve been very vocal about wanting at least 1 of OGA and SGA here (mostly saying I want both). It would be pretty tricky to pull off both, but I think 1 is pretty gettable next year. To me, SGA is basically a younger Murray who made the allstar team and went for 3 firsts a pick swap and salary filler. That’s the value I’d target seeing as even though he’s younger than Murray, he hasn’t made an allstar team recently (I guess he could this year, but I doubt it thinking OKC will try hard to tank).

For OGA the hope is that Bullock has enough value to only have to add a few assets (Green, Frank, Hardy, 1 pick added to RB?). I would use DFS, but I’d want to go the RB route first and I would not give up as many of the smaller assets if I did. In fact, we could use that package at the TDL when OGA finally gets through to Masai that he wants out. The pick would be the 28 first unprotected so we can use the 24, 26 and 30 on SGA after the draft.

I’m hoping LAL have had enough of the LeGM show that they move on from him and NY is primed to take him on.

I don't have a sense of what type of defender he is. Two-way guy?

Really difficult to evaluate individual defense on a train wreck team like OKC. But going back all the way to his college days his defense was actually the main reason for his high draft stock. In the Mavs switch heavy scheme a 6´6 guard with a 7´0 wingspan would probably be an upgrade over anything they have/had (THJ, Brunson).

Somebody send this to Cuban, so he understands on the next contract Powell should be paying him.
Kemba Walker. At one point, it looked like Kemba was getting bought out once he landed in DET, with the thought that maybe he had lined up a deal to be the Mavs 3rd PG and insurance at the position. Woj reported they had agreed on buyout numbers, very early.

Then nothing happened.

Here's an excellent analysis of the situation. It sounds like he's still very likely to become a FA. (And if you're curious about what this article means for the Mavs, its implication is that the Mavs apparently decided they did NOT want to sign him).

I had kind of forgotten about him.  In the talks regarding 3rd PG, its mostly Schroder vs Bledsoe.  I think Kemba should probably be part of that conversation.  In some ways, Kemba would make a ton of sense in that role, but I would argue one of the most important traits of an emergency PG is availability and I don't trust those knees.
@"F Gump"'s sentiment that we are done is what I've settled on.  Mavs must have a lot of faith in Hardy/Dorsey/Green.

I'm super concerned about Dinwiddie's work load but I guess they'll be some options in season should the worst happen.
Is there an echo in here?
Give me Bledsoe and his "left achilles tendinopathy".  I'm sure he's fine now.
I would be fine with a bought out Kemba at the vet min for that 15th spot. Just to see what he has left in the tank
Schröder‘s ballhandling abilities would be a HUGE addition to the team. We could stagger minutes a lot easier between Luka/Dinwiddie with a third quality ballhandler like that.

I don’t think we can afford to look the other way despite the offcourt baggage that comes along with him. We’re one injury away from being unable to have reliable 48 minutes PnR play at the guard spots.

Usually when teams try to tank that’s the easiest way to sabotage your team. Just take away the veteran PG play and let some experimental guys run your plays. It’s gonna cost teams Ws pretty quickly bc of the importance of that role.

I seriously wonder why they appear to be willing to take on that risk. Is money THAT thight for Cuban? Do they plan to go away from the 2 PG lineups a lot more? Why though, they have worked in their favor for pretty much all of last season?

Kemba can eat a stinky one. Dude had his chance to come here but preferred Ainge‘s BS recruiting attempt. He’s also washed up and often injured.

F him.

Man, wish we had a FO that could pull out a BS FA pitch that got them to come here.
