And add a pick, I am affraid. It was also reported, that Detroit wants one unprotected FRP for Bogdanovic. For that price, I am out. Detroit got Bogdanovic without giving up any draft asset in the summer...
If we combine rumors - why not trade THJ to LA for Beverly and FRP? Mavs get an additional asset and could use a defense tone setter, who is on expiring contract. Sure Mavs will miss THJ shooting, but I doubt he is the long term piece for Mavs trying to contend.
Subquestion, as I really didn't watch any Lakers yet. Why did guys on this team forgot how to shoot? Looking at Nunn and Beverly specifically

I don´t know. For the last decade the Mavs fans (and the MBT) have told me my obsession with youth is stupid, they are sh*t and you need experienced veterans. You sure  they are not all asking for Javale, Bertans and Timmah instead. Big Grin Wink

If we are honest this is just going to be end in another catastrophe, cause Cuban won´t miraculously change. The only way out of this mess is a full blow up, regardless of where that ends in wins/losses. That´s what is required to get off most of these garbage contracts. All you can do is trade them for shorter and even worse contracts. If you are not willing to do deals for guys like Westbrook, Hayward, Ball, Irving and so on, then there is nothing to discuss.

Getting John Collins without giving up picks, Luka, Hardy, Green or DFS would be a massive achievement.

Our roster construction is so bad, that I could go to the Hawks and say: We keep those four players (Luka, DFS, Hardy, Green) and our picks. You send us John Collins. You can build whatever legal trade you want around it and we will accept it. Send us your worst (of the rest), take our best (of the rest). We´ll accept.

I dare you find a trade, we´d lose.
Further expanding the idea, here is another Detroit/LA/Mavs combo (add smaller salary from Detroit to make it work):

Det: Nunn, Lakers protected pick
Dal: Bev, Bey
LA: THJ

I see a ton of fans wanting to trade for Hardy. He's a hot commodity.

I don't think you have to worry about Hardy yet.  He hasn't shown enough to be a big value add in a trade and I don't think the Mavs are going to give him away for nothing.  That might be true of Josh as well as he's just way too inconsistent to be used instead of future first though he certainly has more value than Jaden.  Dorian is probably the best bargaining chip in terms of contract (modest and just started his new deal) and production.  Wood and Powell have value as an expiring.

If you want Collins and don't want to add picks, I'd just assume Dorian is going out.  I still doubt Atlanta would accept a package of Wood/Dorian.

Hardy has value. I bet many teams would take him over a top 10 protected future pick right now.

Teams always try to catch these players before they become really good. That´s called player evaluation. And what better place to ask for a young player than the franchise that values them the least out of all the franchises in the league (by far).

Well, but that's just it. I think of all teams, the Mavs are probably the ones most likely to value their younger talent the least, based on history. Maybe this new group values the picks they make and I'm worried about nothing.

Reminds me of all the Roddy B hype a few years ago.  Just show a flash of potential, and the machine gets going...

This is a fantastic idea.

Sells incredibly high on THJ. I'd be mad if the Mavs don't do something like this now thinking about it. Getting at least 1 first instantly makes us stronger in future trades.
I am not sure we would have the assets for either, but lets say we did.  If Detroit said you could have Bey or Bogdanovich, which one would you pick?

I would love either. I'd be a little more excited about Bey, because it would feel like they were getting a piece to improve them now but also getting a little younger and adding time to the current window. But, I know some are down on him here and I don't feel informed enough at this point to have a passionate opinion about which would help more right away. Probably Bogdanovich, but if so, I'm not sure how much longer he'd be a help, etc, etc.

Does Bog have injury issues? If not, I'd say him. I would have said Bey a year or two ago, I'd have picked him.

You mean the guy that won an NBA championship, two EuroLeague Championships, two Turkish Championships, three Turkish Cups, a French Cup and a Turkish League Finals MVP. Tongue  Wink

I was fuming a little bit when I first saw your post, then I remembered our FO's (lack of) negotiation skills.

I think that if any of the three guys in the thread title, or any other desirable players, end up here, it's safe to say that this board will be quite furious with what was sent out. Just please goodness let it not be Green.

I don't think any of them is a difference maker worth spending an asset on and on the other hand, I don't think Detroit will let any of them go without a FRP. Leaving this aside, I think I would pick Bey. Mavs need to get younger.

You can say the same of DSJ. All style and no substance, though he's better now after bouncing around.

Bojan is a difference maker. He's averaging a career high 22 ppg, and had a 25 pt 3rd qtr the other night. Who wouldn't take that?

We do not need to burn one of the few assets we have on a mid 30's rental that is on a hot streak.

There are... other reasons... to bring Bojan here...
