DanS i'd be all over that Charlotte trade.  Clears out the majority of our garbage (Bertans / McGee / Bullock) and consolidates it into Hayward.  All for the price of Jaden Hardy.

I'm not big on Hardy as others are. He is super young and we haven't had a prospect with his potential in a long time. I just dont see him being more than a bench scoring guard with limited handles. I dont think he gets to the Clarkson / Lou Williams / THJ level of scoring 6th man types. He is more limited than that.

So the inclusion of Hardy wouldnt stop me from making a trade.

I tend to agree.  And, its not like Richards (Schwartz) and McDaniel (Duffy) are nothing.  Give them a few months with Luka and they might just be assets.

Like you mentioned, we'd be swapping youth for youth. They seem to be more ready to contribute than Hardy at this point. I think he's 2 years away. At best.

Considering the incredible fit playing off of Luka and his level of play this season, I think its worth the gamble on Bogi. He's locked in for only 2 more seasons after this and he has a valuable skillset. I do think he marginally raises our ceiling and considering were now 4th in the West that's somewhat significant. Also, he's friends with Luka so I'm pretty sure he'd be totally on board. We really have no idea what Hardy will end up being and after next year's draft could still trade multiple 1st I believe. Just my take.
Trading a pick for 34-year-old Bogi is insane. You only do that trade if it guarantees a title, which it wouldn't.

Agreed, and tbh I kind of view Hardy as a more attractive asset than a late future first at this point, so my objection would be doubly strenuous about including him.

But...it sure seems like a Mavs kind of move, doesn't it?

Interesting perspective. As I wrote before, I am not really sure why would Charlotte take more money owed to Bertans/Reggie/McGee to trade a better player in Hayward. He is not healthy a lot, but those three guys will not make them better, even if they are healthy. Unless of course they are absolutely in love with Hardy.

You presume they want to get better.  The podcast analysts and I presume they are in transition to a rebuild around their high 23 pick and Ball.

But why would they get worse without getting anything back (unless they really love Hardy)? Where is a value in that? I think they would consider this kind of deal only if those Bertans/Bullock/McGee deals would be expiring (at least some of them), not longer term than Hayward.

This is why when I trade with Cha, I include a THJ for Rozier swap and add PJ. My trade would be THJ/Bertans/Reggie/McGee/Hardy/27 or 29 second (or both) for Hayward/Rozier/PJ/McDaniel.

My 2 hopes would be Rozier making a SD-like leap in his efficiency coming here and the younguns also taking a step forward. I don’t care much what becomes of Hayward (other than being available for THIS year’s playoffs) cause I want to use him in the offseason as salary filler.

We waive Pinson to make this trade or he can go to Cha either way.
I could combine any player in the NBA with any NBA Team in conjunction with could have trade interest.  What a worthless statement.

I wouldn't do that trade, but for a somewhat-different reason that most might have.

I'm not excited by Hardy. I think he's JAG. Trading him while he has good GL stats and looks intriguing might even be a way to get more value than he's worth.

But my disinterest in this trade is that you aren't getting anything in Hayward that is dependably useful. His body is breaking down -- he's on his 3rd different extended stay on the inactive list in this season -- and his production is slipping considerably for the same reason.

I think the odds would be much better on Bullock and McGee getting better and being helpful, than on Hayward being healthy enough to depend on for quality play when it counts. And with GH sitting so much and sucking when he doesn't, we wouldn't have found a way to get out from under the bad money to Bertans and McGee -- the wasted money is about the same either way.

I do like the idea of packaging Bertans and McGee, and maybe even THJ, to take a player some player whose team wants to get out from under. But imo this isn't an actual solution.
