I think we're all going to see soon that the best outcome for this off season, by far, would've been re-signing Brunson.

I agree on just about everything. Maybe the first point - I'd add THJ instead or in addition to the others you mentioned.

I've always thought the most likely outcome this off-season was Cuban getting off Bertans at almost any cost to avoid paying tax on his 16M salary.

Again, that's always what these discussions are, to me. It can be fun to imagine what could happen, sure, but I care much more about the team we'll actually have in reality, personally.

I'm sure they're desperate to get off of Randle. You don't pay Brunson unless you want to start running a lot of pnr, and Randle just isn't a fit with that. There's a lot of potential for huge chemistry issues, actually. I wonder if anyone will be interested in Randle at his price, however.
It's starting to look like Brunson will end up with more money than Ayton. Wild.

Well then every single proposed trade can be skipped to the end. None of them will happen, so there’s no need for the discussion. Do you understand how that mentality kills trade discussion altogether and there are those who enjoy that part of basketball discussion?

Imo, this should tell us what the league actually values and covets.

I agree with Killer that THJ becomes more valuable on this team without Brunson and they are unlikely to dump him for salary at this point.

Honestly the easiest way to dump a significant amount of salary might be to stretch waive Bertans.

Think of this as the redo on the Brunson extension. Of course we would have to get in the mix via s&t with CLE and not sure why they wouldn't match considering he's a RFA.

I heard Cleveland didn’t like Sexton very much even before Garland became a star.

I understand that I'm not preventing anyone from engaging the way they wish, but that you are now attempting to control how I engage.

I will continue to do everything I want here, and in a respectful manner that doesn't attack others.

Not asking to make a point, just really asking: Have the Mavs ever used stretch wave? I can't remember off the top of my head, if they have.

It's an interesting thought, but with the current roster I actually think Bertans is going to play, and maybe quite a bit.

Stretch/wave would help against the tax line but it still would be money that Cuban is spending. If penny-pinching is the main problem it´s not making a real difference.

Agree with this, but there's also the RFA/UFA distinction between the two that plays a factor.

Yeah, great point.
Why haven't we heard anything about Paschal Siakim, lately. Seems like Scottie Barnes needs a little room to grow there, so I feel like this is a decent time to get what you can for Siakim. But, not a peep.

If we're trying to come up with big swing pipe dreams, he's who I'd want.

I'm just gonna say it: it stinks to read stuff like this from you. We need some optimists around here, it can't be an all-grumpy pitchfork-crowd with too many negative nancies like myself and others (Mavs2012). There's a decent chance your outlook becomes reality BUT - as disappointing as it might be - we've been through shittier times with the Mavs over the last decade. Luka is still around and as long as he is the team will be in the playoff mix and fun to watch. Maybe he's even as loyal as Dirk and just takes the good with the bad when it comes to the organization. We'll see, nothing is fundamentally lost at this point, heck they might even be able to bring Cuban to light and just pay up to keep Brunson.

Seriously, whenever one of the few remaining long-term "good" guys around here like you/fif/tamm turn negative it feels really wrong and not fun anymore.

So for once, I'm gonna do my best, dig real deep and try some sunshine pumping over the next 12 hours.

Mo Bamba to the Mavs? Hell yeah. Dipo? Gimme' some. Dragic > Burke. Hell, even Dinwiddie will be another year removed from the ACL injury.

To finish it all off here is a new pic of skinny Luka:

Brunson-related? Mavs offering more?

If we've learned anything over the years its that Skin is basically giving us Cuban's thoughts/opinions or what he wants to get out there. This goes for everything Mavs related and especially including blaming Mavs fans for being ungrateful for the perfect free agency decisions MBT has made over the last decade.
