Did you watch the game last night?  OKC's offense was the pregame layup line.  D'Lo isn't changing those fortunes.

It really does seem like that.

I don't see why MIN would go out of their way to give LAL a way out while they're breathing down MIN's neck in the standings.

Minnesota doesn’t want to be in a Bird Rights Trap with D’Lo
D'Lo to the Lakers would take some pressure off of the MBT when it comes time for Kyrie's next contract.

Agreed. I knew he'd get moved.

A big part of me thought (thinks?) this would've been the better route for Dallas, but I guess we'd have to get an idea of what the cost would've been to know for sure. All I know right now is that I'd trust a long term deal for Russell a lot more than I'm going to with Irving. Obviously, Kyrie is in a whole different class as a player though.
We aren't gonna be able to trade THJ, are we?

I thought the folks here were just discussing how it would up the pressure on Cuban.

I think we are approaching the "we shouldn't trade them just to trade them" phase with THJ and Wood.  It's why I don't think Killer's Wood for Crowder swap makes any sense.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!

there are two killer predictions:

1) Wood gets traded
2) Crowder comes here

Not sure those will happen win the same deal, although it wouldn't shock me.
I think if Wood goes they'll be looking to add another big somehow.

Should it?

It isn’t hard to imagine a D’Lo/Rui and First S&T for KI.  We need to hope LA doesn’t send out both firsts in this if we are worried about a Kyrie Bolt to LAL.  It wouldn’t be the first time D’Lo got paid to be a placeholder in anticipation of another deal to come.

I think they have to attach a 1st to him to get a decent player back. Still hope they pull the trigger.

So they'd ship him off to the Lakers?

I'm on board with the idea of the Wolves moving D'Lo. I sort of expected it a month ago when they were faltering and he was underperforming. But I figured they'd rather send him to another team like the Heat or heck even Magic. Both need a point guard, and both of them don't directly compete with them for playoff seeding.

All true, but as an owner, I’d prioritize a $100mm decision on a guy I’m not thrilled to keep over whether I get into the play-in this season or not.  Miami does make sense to me, but I like Conley better and who knows what else might be coming my way vs. what Miami can send.

I think Kyrie to the Lakers is getting overblown.

He wanted to go there last summer because they were the only team willing to throw him the max at that point. Now? I think the Mavs would happily sign him if he performs.

Further all the smoke was coming from Lebron trying his hardest to make the deal. This summer I think it's more likely Lebron forces his way out than the Lakers bring anyone in.

Also, did anyone else miss that little tidbit of Kyrie shit talking the NYK media? He distinctly expressed his hatred for that big market and how the media made a story of everything he said. Lakers would be more of the same circus. I don't think Kyrie is nearly as motivated to go there as its being made to believe right now.

Of course, he wants the money, and if the Mavs don't pay then I can see him very happily forcing himself to the one team that will always pay. But Cuban just found his big fish, I don't think he's going to willingly let him go.

It should for the lone reason that that swap becomes an option for the Mavs.

Agree with you.  My point is if one is pre-disposed to thinking Kyrie is going to find his way to LAL, Rui and D’Lo to the Lakers doesn’t necessarily close that door.
With all the talk about next season and possible decisions in the summer. There is one thing that will impact all of it and so far we have no clue how things will play out. The new CBA. It looks like the majority of owners is pushing really hard for stricter cap regulations. Maybe even a hardcap. At least a reworked luxury tax system.
I think a lot of teams are waiting for clarity before they make decisions about contract extensions or trades that would add a lot of salary.

Absolutely fair.

Although the Lakers still don't have enough space even if they renounce everyone to get Kyrie his max. They're about 15 mil short. That's with AD+Lebron+Reaves on the squad.

What are the odds the Mavs say "Ok, if you want to take a near $100 mil discount to go play with Lebron+AD+ and minimums go ahead."
