Re Sexton: FWIW I was listening to the Fan earlier and Bryan Broaddus had text a Mavs source, while on-air, to inquire about the level of interest and was told: he’s a “different” guy, selfish, bucket-getter but bench guy - no role here

Well, that's encouraging. I hope it's true.
So Dragic is the last guy they bring in and then we're just done? Certainly looks that way right now.

PG: Doncic | Dragic | Ntilikina
SG: Dinwiddie | Hardaway | Hardy | Pinson
SF: Finney-Smith | Bullock | Green
PF: Wood | Kleber | Bertans
C: McGee | Powell

+ 2 way guys

Highly doubt they have any trades brewing.

For instance Cato is also downplaying their urgency in regards to trades:

I refuse to believe we live in a world so terrible.

I will continue to hope with everything I have that the above is not the plan.

So incredibly underwhelming… sigh

While that's the current 15 players, I don't think it's at all the Depth Chart. For example, I don't think McGee/Powell split 48 minutes, or that either of them gets the most minutes at C.

As for whether the Mavs are done at this point, part of it obviously depends on what offers are available. But also imo whether they think THJ can possibly be that 3rd wing they say they wanted to add. If not, then they have some ongoing motivation to find that guy.

I think minutes would be something like:

Luka = 35
Dinwiddie = 28
DFS = 33
Wood = 30
McGee = 15
Bullock = 28
THJ = 27
Maxi = 24
Dragic = 20

DP, Green, etc. would get spot minutes and not be necessarily a regular part of the rotation. DP might not even be on the team.
I'll say this now, and I sure hope it seems silly in a day or two, but:

We might need to stop assuming Dallas is going to get Dragic. I hope they will, for sure, but with things the way they are, I would sure hate for us all to be set up for additional disappointment.
I demand 10 minutes per game for Hardy.

Are you saying Dragic might feel slightly insulted that they offered McGee 20/3 and expect him to sign a one year minimum deal. Big Grin

I think > 50% that he either signs for more money elsewhere or latches onto a legit contender for the minimum.

Hate to say it, and I hope we're wrong, but I'm starting to feel like this, too.

I sure hope he signs here though.
Dragic will be a Mav.  Luka will grab the mic and make it happen.

That's not the first time I've heard "selfish" as a tag for Sexton.

Here is an amateur article discussing this when he was just a draft prospect.

Here is a professional article discussing the same thing 3 years later.

Quote:"Various Cavs players still grow frustrated by the way Sexton dominates the ball, and opponents taunt them by saying during games, “you know he’s not going to pass you the ball"

Still, Sexton is a 20ppg guy that could shoot the three very well before he got hurt. He can score at all 3 levels. He's not a perfect fit, but I wouldn't be against such a move provided that he's cheap. He'd be a trade asset if anything.

Sure hope so!!!!
That´s why Draymond said they gonna win three out of the next four. They will always find good roleplayers on value contracts and their owner doesn´t give a t*** about the luxury tax.

They have Wiseman, Kuminga, Poole, Moody and all their 1st round picks (except 2024). They can easily acquire another All-Star level player with their assets, whenever Draymond or Klay show serious signs of decline.

He sort of looked out of sorts when we played against him when he was in Sacramento.  But I am sure he will fit like a glove when in Golden State.   I look forward to him signing with the Mavs when he is 35.

Man, I know we had limited options but it is depressing seeing teams improve and then see us.   I know there is plenty of time left, but I am at the point that I don't want to leverage future picks for not clear upgrades.

I think Dragic is here, but you are right.  Never count on the Mavs not to screw something up.   Heck, they may sign Zoran to a contract by mistake Smile

Regardless, it is probably a one year stint in all liklihood and we are right back where we are at now next year at this time.   I think Goran is still pretty good, but probably not a 30 minute player.  Probably closer to 20 or 25.    Just like Maxi, you will really need to watch his minutes so he is strong for the second half.
