No Thanks.  Has Lavine ever had a season where he was a positive On-Court for his team?  I'll save you the trouble of looking it up.  No.

Combine that with his salary and knees and the likely asking price.  I want no part of that.

Oh the good old Derozan dillema. DD was also a net negative when he was on the court before joining the Bulls.

Lavine is exactly what the doctor ordered. He is the type of offensive player you need to add next to Luka. He can score, he can pass and he can play defense. He is a very underrated defender. And I also think that his value right now is at an all time low.

Actually, DeRozan was a positive On-Court five years in a row in Toronto and his first year in SA.  That is something LaVine has never done a single time.
Not a huge Lavine fan here either. He'd be a lot of fun offensively, but he's not exactly the 2-way wing we've all been hoping for. I'd rather go all-in on Siakam.

Many have accused Wood of being an "empty stat sheet filler"....LaVine fits that more truthfully than Wood ever has.
Derozan seems like the real prize if they're just giving away talent
I just don't want any part of a long term deal after that current deal expires next year
Now I really need a Lavine trade. Perhaps after being wrong for the 47659th time you guys will just listen to me. Hahahahahahahahahahahaa

Are you shooting for an even 47660 with being wrong?

The quotes from this:

Quote:The Hawks have been open to trading Collins if the right package comes along. Atlanta has had several forwards around the league on their radar, including Lauri Markkanen, Kyle Kuzma, and Crowder.

Quote:According to rival executives, the Jazz view Vanderbilt as worthy of a first-round pick in value given his production, contract (signed for $4.7 million next season), and age (23).

If Vanderbilt is really available for one 1st, then maybe I do talk to Ainge.

I ate your cousin last night. Mid rare.

Too bad you slathered him in ketchup.

I’d never do your family like that, cow.
MacMahon said on the Lowe Post yesterday that the Mavs are willing to extend Wood for 2 years but would be shocked if they did 4 years. He indicated they want to... wait for it.... "keep the powder dry" for 2025 Free Agency. He brought up how Bojan Bogdonavic could be a target as he just signed the two year extension which fits their timeline and has a good relationship with Luka already. As it pertains to Chicago I wonder if this intel would have them more in on Demar considering the contract expires after next season.

I am not, unless he’s mailing it in on purpose in Chicago.

He looks like a shell of his former self this season.  The explosiveness is gone. His knee can’t be 100%. And there were questions whether 100% Zach Lavine was a winning player.

Being a good defender is more than having the capability to do it.  You also have to have the stamina, the will, and the BBIQ to do it consistently every play.  Any advanced stat you look at says he has been bad at defense and his team is bad at defense when he is on the court.  He has shown no ability to play good defense consistently and planning or wishing or hoping that changes if he were to come here seems like a poor plan.

He has been an empty stats guy his entire career, seems to have some locker room red flags is going to cost 40 mil next year and is under contract for another 3 and will cost every asset we currently have access to get him.  If he doesn't work out (and there are reasons to think he might not) he will be our next KP.

I really don’t want to give up the second first rounder.  2025?  OK, but not 2027 unless we are talking Anunoby or Ayton or Brown.

I’m probably a bigger Vanderbilt fan than most, but I’d rather trade a single first for someone like him than someone like Bogdanovic in terms of an archetype.  Great defender who along with DFS, Green and Maxi would protect the deficiencies of Luka/Wood and Hardy someday.  Age appropriate.  Restricted in a year.  Can do more things offensively than he gets credit for.  He can attack off the dribble and pass on the move.  He’s probably about as good as Wood at bringing the ball up the court.  He’s hitting his corner 3’s efficiently.  He hasn’t put it all together yet, but like Green, you see flashes of things he can do if asked to/allowed to.  He’s already much more dynamic offensively than DFS and only 23.  He and Green and eventually Hardy could play with Luka and a good big for the next eight  to ten years IMHO.
Btw, this is one area Nico should bring some value with his connections.

Is Lavine going through the motions because he wants out of Chicago? Would he be interested in playing in Dallas with Luka and play hard? Or does he want to go back to the west coast where he’s from?

If were gonna give up a first, the 28 is the one to give. That way we have 3 firsts to give when we get access to the 30.
Would be all over Vanderbilt. Good takes there.

Think there's some delusion going on about LaVine, imho. I get that the advanced stats don't like him, but that's how you have a shot at getting him. He is the EXACT type of player we always say "they can't afford that" when people are like "why don't they just get a wing like this"...etc.

I think there's reason to be concerned about how he's playing this year, because he might be irreparably damaged with that knee(s) situation. I'd be worried about that, for sure.

But if that's not a concern (hopefully, the Mavs would know) put me in the camp that thinks LaVine, next to LUKA, becomes a positive immediately. His athletic ability would change the entire dynamic of the team.

I think this is all right on the money. I wonder if the Mavs have even thought about this particular target.
