It's interesting that we swoon over most of the TOR players, and yet as a team they truly suck and are going nowhere. 7th worst in the league.

Clever tank job?

John Collins incoming?
If any of you need a reality check, turn on the GSW @ BOS game. We aren’t winning it this year. We can’t afford to trade a pick for anything less than a slam dunk. If you can do a slight upgrade to the roster or an upgrade to our salary situation without including picks, do it. Prioritize building up Luka, Green, Hardy and Wood. We make THE move in the offseason.
There are very few players I’d want that cost Green AND Hardy and 1st round picks. No way OG is one of them, and I love the guy. He has been low-key bad on offense this season. I know their spacing is off, injuries, etc. I know he’s and all world defender. I just don’t see THAT much growth potential in his game. He’ll never be as good as say Siakam on that side of the ball. Not much playmaking. Average at best at creating for himself. Isn’t Josh Green a cheaper, younger, slightly smaller OG starter kit? Can’t he provide 80% of what OG does at less than half the cost? Unless we are getting a sure fire superstar just keep it to picks and swaps. And keep our young guys. Cheap depth is important too.

I would argue the best move would be to turn anyone not named Luka, Green, Hardy, or Wood into a 1st round pick if possible. I would use this TDL to be a "seller" and grab assets before looking into this summer of the next season for "THE move."

Yes. That’s about right. THJ/Bullock outbound freeing up minutes for Green/Hardy makes sense
Exactly Kamm. Luka, Wood, Green, Hardy as the young core. Maxi can’t be traded anyway. I’d keep DFS if possible. Din, Reggie, THJ all very much available. Stockpile assets and turn the youngsters loose. If you can get an extra pick or two you might be able to afford two B+ players. OG and Turner level. Or you could, I don’t know, actually draft a good young player?

That's not much hyperbole - right now he's sidelined by his THIRD different multi-week injury of the season. And with all the injuries, when he plays, he mostly sux as a player now, so there's that as well.

The idea that he represents some sort of value in the summer is only true to the degree that you need useless, expiring filler for a trade. Otherwise, no one will want to take him off your hands for the privilege of paying him $31M to be injured and then spare it up.

PJ? IMO okayish, maybe, not all that excited by him. Wouldn't do a trade with the idea that he's the main prize. He's a bit undersized 4/5, so not that good as a rebounder or defender, and not that efficient as a scorer to make up for the lack of size. The fact he's going to demand a big raise soon is also not desirable.

I'd never want to see the Mavs include a pick to get players like the above to Dallas.

It may sound like I'm trashing everyone on CHA, but there's a reason the team is bad. Besides Ball, not much to like.
Wait, where did I even give the impression that Hayward was a prize? He is a pretty good player when he plays, which is why I said he would help us get as far as we are gonna go this year, then be salary filler in the offseason.

We have slightly differing opinions on PJ. I don’t think he’s any kind of world beater, I just said I think his abilities complement Wood and between the two, think they equal a full rim protector.
Pretty sure this is the point in this thread where we talk about losing JB for nothing!

Sorry Sleepinghero, had to do it.

Difficult to ignore the elephant in the room. For the most part assumptions and predictions about potential roster moves are based on the moves they made in the past. Or is anyone expecting a completly new strategy. That´s why Brunson matters. Especially when it comes to Wood´s contract situation.
People are finally catching up to the fact that this is a bad team.  Wood should be off limits nor should Josh.

Who would yield a 1st though?

Maybe Dorian.  Maybe Din.  Maybe Josh.  Hope for 2nds from THJ, Bullock and Wood.  You could probably make the Lakers an attractive package that would help their defense and shooting while getting rid of their Westbrook problem.  Just depends how far you want to burn this to the ground.

Interesting.

I agree OG is not elite on offense. However, I think you are comparing an idea of what Green might become with what OG already is. OG is scoring over 17 ppg and is elite defender. Green is scoring 7 ppg and is not in elite defender conversations, although he might get there. He does not provide 80 % of what OG does. Perhaps in a couple of years.

I would hate to include him in the deal, I agree with that. I would prefer giving up another pick instead.

You might want to look up Anunoby´s stats after 150 NBA games and compare them to Green right now. Virtually the same. At same point the Mavs have to start stop being so desperate and develop their own players. Once you started the process, the first players are yielding results (Green/Hardy) and you keep doing it, your desperation factor decreases. Of course it would also be pretty important that you do not let these players walk like Brunson at the end of their rookie deals. Confused

Might need to package a couple together to get the first out of them. My first stop would probably be NYK to get our own pick back.
Since people always add 2nd rounders to our fantasy trades, I think it´s worth mentioning that we only have a total of two eligible 2nd rounders (2025/2027). All the others are gone already (2023/2024/2026/2028).

We’ll get one back when the Knicks pick conveys and another after the draft too. So, we’ll have 4 of 7 in July
