Phoenix gets KAT/McGee, gives up Ayton/Crowder/First
Minnesota gives KAT, gets Wood/THJ/Two Firsts
Dallas gets Ayton/Crowder, gives up Wood/THJ/McGee/First

The theory is Phoenix would want KAT over Ayton enough to give up a first for him.  Minnesota doesn’t want Ayton next to Rudy, so they take Wood/THJ and firsts.  Dallas is happy to trade Wood/THJ/McGee and a first for Ayton/Rudy.  His idea, I only added the McGee for Crowder part.  I thought it was kind of interesting.

I like the trade from our perspective, but I don't see enough going to Minnesota.

Yeah, it’s creative and realistic enough to be plausible, but I agree. Ultimately, I bet Towns inspires better bids.

This is why they're contemplating it

He would be a beast 20 years ago.  It's sad seeing him try to be a 2023 big.  He did have a huge game a few nights ago.

That's interesting.  We get Ayton and Jae comes home.
I doubt Minny moves Towns so soon into the Gobert experiment.

The Gobert trade was terrible because of the assets they spent but I really think they played the wrong hand to begin with.  They should have sold off Towns and D'Lo and built around Ant and some of those young pieces they threw away.  Alternatively, they should have gone in on Mitchell instead of Gobert if they were determined to role with Towns.  I freaking hate Towns though so have a huge bias.
Very interesting for all teams.  I would imagine Westbrook I’d bought out.  Where does he land?

This should improve the Lakers because Westbrick sucks now. He cannot shoot. He's still athletic, but he's no good in today's NBA.

The details of what else is leaving Utah will be interesting.  Has to be at least one other higher salary guy (like Beasley) as Conley alone isn’t enough to be legal for Utah.  It doesn’t all need to go to LAL though.

1-day contract with the Thunder?

Laker draft compensation is more interesting.  I don't see D'Lo changing their fortunes much save for locker room chemistry.  Getting Conley would probably be the better get for them on the floor.

Idk, he CAN play off ball, so that's a good start.

They were dumb enough to think it'd work, I guess they're also dumb enough to see it through.  Kat and Gobert in the same frontcourt would have been amazing...  in 1991.

What makes you think they'll buy him out? Seems like their starting PG spot just opened up. Do they have some kid waiting on a role I'm not remembering?

Also, I'm going to choose to believe this bit of news means that Russell was the consolation target for whichever team, Mavs or Lakers, missed out on Irving.

Westbrook's usage rate is 27.6.  D'Angelo's is 22.5.  Yes, he plays off the ball.  IMO D'Angelo is the ideal combo guard with Lebron.  This would be a huge coup for LAL.

I think he ends up in Miami.

That's a sneaky good trade for Minnesota. Conley would fit perfectly for them.

I'd be so mad if they get 3 great role players for Westbrook.
Russell isn't expiring, is he?

This should be fairly welcome news for folks hoping Kyrie signs here long term, I'd think. No chance at cap space in LA now, right?

Hell, if the plan (or fallback plan) is to move Irving to LAL via sign and trade, I'd say Russell is for sure in that package now. There's a small chance, I suppose, that they targeted him because they think Dallas might like him.

More fodder for this summer's big sign and trade!

Russell is expiring.

But Rui has eaten their cap-space to the point the most they can get even with this trade is around 25 mil.

I guess maybe this guy was talking about Conley.

He is expiring and Beasley has a team option. They can get Kyrie if that's what both parties want. Which is why if the rest of this season goes well, Mark will feel tremendous pressure to offer 4yrs 200 mill. Kyrie has proven he will use whatever leverage necessary to get paid.
