I think they were 15 mil short of his max and this adds Vanderbilt's 4 to that, but would like one of the cap experts to confirm.

Sure, that's fair.

And all I'm saying is that D'Lo/Hachimura, D'Lo/1st, D'Lo/Beasley, whatever, is MUCH better than the potential worst case scenario I thought was possible at this point yesterday. I think we'd all agree that in sugar plum rainbow land, where Kyrie works out well here (Hey, Van Excel was a malcontent before coming here, so there's some precedent) holding onto him is preferable. Now that it's done, I'll hope for that, too. But, Russell via Kyrie's bird rights in a sign and trade is much better to me than "it's ok, we'll have cap space."

Make sense?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
d'Angelo is a good player that i've wanted to have on our squad since he became available in the market. kyrie is the better player for sure but d'Angelo is younger, and he could've been acquired cheaper. I like the kyrie deal but D'Angelo would also be a decent one imho.

This is what I was thinking earlier when this came up.  I was hoping LA would hold onto at least one first.  The easy button if you want to S&T Kyrie to LAL:

Scoring PG for Scoring PG

29 for 29

PF for PF

There may be a BYC issue with Rui depending on what he’s seeking (not an issue if it is Vandy).

Not my preferred outcome, but better than hoping for cap space.

F*ck Vince. Angry

I´m not sure Jaden Hardy would do much worse than 11/2/3 on 42/35/92 shooting, if you gave him 26 MPG. Already doing 7/1/1 shooting 42/29/88 in 10 MPG.

I think you should mentally prepare yourself for Hardy not to be in the playoff rotation. I know you'll hate it, but I think they are DESPERATELY trying to make a trade right now to avoid being painted into that corner, and if they don't get one done, I bet they will go after some broken down retread of a buyout guard or wing.

So that is assuming we can come to agreement with D'Lo, right?  LA's alternative would be to dump salary and sign him outright, but then I guess they are losing useful players and have no way to replace other than small exceptions and vet mins?

I know, but before I do such a horrible trade like Wood for Jackson, I´d rather just waive Wood and play Hardy. At least that way I don´t help a direct competitor.

My understanding is prior to this trade if they relinquished all their contracts at the end of the season they would have something close to max. Could be wrong.

I don’t think D’ Lo will be the issue.  If it is D’ Lo plus Vandy plus pick, it takes about $33mm going to Russell.

I don’t think LA dumps salary to get to this.  As we saw with NY and Detroit, there might be some cost to move bodies and you don’t just walk from someone you paid a lightly protected first to acquire.  To reiterate, this is just us girls talking.  Not a prediction or a preference.  It is an example of what MIGHT happen if Kyrie really wants to get to LAL in the summer.  It is kind of interesting how balanced this all is.  Both of the new Mav’s here would be younger than the two who left.

Edit:  The other thing that makes this kind of interesting is all the talk about the Brooklyn owner not wanting Irving to end up in LA.  So, if this was Kyrie’s plan, it had to be a two-step plan.
Josh Hart to the Knicks.  It won’t be for a player making more than Hart for LT purposes.  Probably Reddish.

I'd be pretty depressed. His BBIQ literally loses games.

Agreed, and to add to this, LeBron is so old that I don't think they can afford to even take the season it would take to replace what they jettisoned to get space for Irving.

When that Jae Crowder news drops, just remember who gave y'all the heads up!
That´s a great trade for the Knicks and basically the Blazers tanking.

Right now 10 GMs calling for Lillard.

Are we becoming internet buddies again?  We’ve actually agreed on a few things here lately.  Ahhh the good old days.

Nets trading for Lillard for ultimate chaos.

I was the Pelicans I´d call them right now, offer McCollum (LOL), Graham and 3-4 firsts.

Also people don´t like to admit it, but the Knicks have done a pretty good job building their roster and still have a big move in them.

We'll ALWAYS be internet buddies, buddy! Pals can disagree!
