Tyler Herro should be treated like the system player he is. Buyer beware! The guys Miami is willing to part with are not the guys you want!

He is not ideal, but I think he is a nice short term option for Dallas either a part of trade or via buyout.  I find it odd Mavs have been playing so nice with the Knicks.  I just wonder if Rose may be one of those reasons.

I like Rose for that third playmaker spot, but my theory is that Utah wants youth and expiring deals.  He's the only expiring deal NY has left, so he almost has to be part of the outgoing.

So, if we want him, we have to give Utah something they want more than Rose.  Powell is not a trade match, so it is likely Powell plus Green for one (or two...TO) years of Rose.  I think Utah certainly does that.  Whether Dallas does depends on your view of what Green might become.  It does explain why Powell hasn't moved yet (has to wait on Mitchell deal) and even the comment about Dragic playing once every five games (to give Rose a rest).

Edit:  I like Green's potential, but if the deal was Rose + McBride, I'd do it and release the protection on 2023 to make that more attractive to Utah.  I like McBride's potential as a tough on the ball defender.

Deal would be Mitchell to NY.  Utah gets Powell, Grimes, Reddish and Josh Green (reduces salary by $8mm and it is kids plus expiring Powell...and they need a stop gap at center).  Dallas gets Rose and McBride.  The matching barely works.  In fact, it is so close on the NY side that they can't substitute $5.3mm Toppin for $5.9mm Reddish.

I would prefer to not give up Green but it gets a little tricky.  In a three team trade is there potentially more leeway on matching salaries?

If Rose is included in the trade with a few NYK players, the Jazz will have potentially three veterans guards they probably won't have interest in.    I think they could move off Beverly.  Conley will be difficult probably.   Rose can probably be moved.  Not sure how much value each brings back in a trade.   Would the Jazz just buyout either Conley or Rose?

About removing the protections from our pick,  could something work out where we got Rose and Vanderbilt with Green & Powell outgoing.   Is that possible?  I know it is not likely.

Wouldn’t mind making NY pay max for RJ next offseason by signing an offer sheet. If they don’t match, I think he would fit great.

Lol. The Knicks can keep their 40% Fg%, 13 PER, inefficient, very negative plus minus chucker. RJ isn’t even worth an MLE at this point. Maybe playing along side the very efficient Brunson will raise his real value.
I read that Herro was as good as Luka.

Hmmm...I didn't follow Miami quite as closely last year as I have in the past, but I'm pretty sure he fell out of their rotation despite being healthy. Not sure that equates to "unprotected 1st" in my book.
