Davis Bertans can be a great add!

Cmon Hawks send him down.
Thoughts on Collins and Wood in the same frontcourt?

I don't see why it couldn't work if Powell and Wood works.

Especially if Wood continues this rim protection. Collins is a switchable big in the mold of Maxi. He'd be a great fit. His contract his hard to stomach though.
I don't get the infatuation with Collins. If he was that special, why would Atlanta trade him?  I've heard some suggest trading Wood for him.  Wood is light years better IMO..
Collins might be like Wood...excel in the right environment...

But Im not overpaying for him.  That means no to Wood, Green, Hardy in trades for him.

Totally agree about Wood being MUCH better than Collins.  Collins is having a down year, and is the case with anyone being actively shopped, he's got some dents and scratches.

Agreed about Wood and Green.  Hardy?  Ya, I'd ship out Hardy for Collins.
Reunite old school Brooklyn.

Cle gets: THJ
Min gets: Rozier/Bullock/McGee
Cha gets: Powell/Bertans/Mavs 28 first
Dal gets: Russell/Levert/Prince/PJ Wash

Russell/Green/Luka/DFS/Wood
Dinwiddie/Levert/Prince/PJ/Maxi
Frank/Hardy/Pinson/vet min/vet min

That is the best second string team in the NBA. Next year hopefully PJ shows enough to supplant DFS in the starting lineup, Hardy shows enough to break into the second group and we can resign the expiring players to reasonable contracts. IF Green keeps his upward trajectory, our starting unit is pretty formidable for a few years until we need to start retooling some of the older players..

I do it if it's in place of a first.

Edit: Also, Maxi and Wood are our only shooting bigs. If that is the asking price, Maxi cannot be traded until the offseason. However, are we not counting on Collins to be a shooting big here? Red flag.

Im by no mean anywhere close to feeling hype like some have for Hardy.   He needs to polish his game up a lot and make better decisions...

But if he can finish at the rim and hit 3s he would be a cheap for a few years.  Also...just like how the Mavs fake us out every year by looking like a disorganized bball team until after All-Star break...Hardy might actually have a way more polished game that he is not allowed to showcase yet.   I guess we have to wait until post-season or some close games against good teams towards the end of regular season to see how he handles it.

What I am trying to say is, is a Collins might be easier to find than a cheap Hardy.

Quote:After all these years of John Collins trade rumors, executives who have spoken to the Hawks about acquiring the veteran forward recently have indicated that the asking price has — understandably — declined significantly this time around.

As I detailed in my recent conversation with Collins, the combination of his large contract and his declined production is hardly helpful in terms of his modern-day value.

In some scenarios, the Hawks are merely asking for a quality player in return (and not a first-round pick), according to league sources.

If that's all their asking what defines a quality player? Cause again Davis Bertans compared to some guys in the league is high quality!

Name three.

1. Javale McGee

2. Udonis Haslem
3. Aleksej Pokuseveski (say that 3 times fast).

1.  7M (you also can't trade him for Bertans)
2.  2.9M
3.  3.2M

We're talking about players, not contracts. Bertans as a player is high quality compared to those 3!

*Also John Collins has 100 mil remaining on his deal, while Bertans has 22.
This rumor is taylor fit for what it sounded like who we offered a while back, only we can't trade Maxi until the offseason. If he lasts that long, I'd still do it.

The contract is part of the quality.  Dorian was one of the best players in the league dollar for dollar.  Now he's regressed and is on a bigger contract.  No longer the God King.
