Ok someone explain to me again why we cant trade 25, 27 and 29 and pick swap 26 and 28? All because of the protection on 23?

Yes, I believe so.

But I believe they lack all their picks, they are going to want good players now and draft picks.  Not sure a draft pick trade.  We don't have the assets for KD.

Protections run through 25 so that pick could be a FRP in '23, '24, or '25.  You can't trade back to back picks so '27 is our first open pick.

Anyone else willing to revisit Kyrie? Especially if KD goes to PHX. Have to try to match the firepower of KD/Book.

We need some optimists around here, it can't be an all-grumpy pitchfork-crowd with too many negative nancies like myself and others (Mavs2012). There's a decent chance your outlook becomes reality BUT - as disappointing as it might be - we've been through shittier times with the Mavs over the last decade. Luka is still around and as long as he is the team will be in the playoff mix and fun to watch. Maybe he's even as loyal as Dirk and just takes the good with the bad when it comes to the organization. We'll see, nothing is fundamentally lost at this point, heck they might even be able to bring Cuban to light and just pay up to keep Brunson.

Well, it bums me out to think that I'm somehow diminishing your enjoyment of the forum. I'm very sorry, that's not my intention.

But, I'd hardly call myself one of the "good" guys. I take your meaning on that to be that I'm usually positive, which far from always being the case. When they do things I like, I say so, and when they don't, I say so. At least that's how it seems to me - I suppose I might not be totally self aware.

Anyway, a few days ago I thought they had added Christian Wood to a roster built around Luka and Brunson, and I'm sorry, but it's just going to take me a week or so to wrap my head around this. I suspect that another wave of people feeling negative about this will come once they realize all of the consequences that this mistake has coming to us.
In things that will never happen and I question if Booker and KD are a good pairing, what if Suns acquired both Kyrie and KD?

If that's the case, PHX probably has the best offer with Ayton, Mikal, Johnson, and however many 1st round picks and swaps they can offer.

Grizzlies would be my sleeper team.
We are going to miss out on Jalen but go hard after Kryie, huh?  Giving up assets.  that is how this ends.
Be funny if they shipped KD to the Pacers or Kings.

I am hoping hard for some star under long term contract to get sent to OKC for picks.  Might as well be Durant.  Full circle.

Damn. That's either a home run or lose Luka and ruin your franchise move if it doesn't work out!
The case for Kyrie:

Dallas is never going to land a second bonafide star in free agency unless they come with a lot of warts.  The closest we came is KP, who was an emerging star, but broken and was expensive.  Kyrie is on a different level talent wise and his value is at an all time low.  If he'd agree to an extension, I could see the Mavs going all in.

It's risky as fuck though.

I see it as a home run if it clicks and a great way to clear cap space if it doesn't.

Yeah, no joke.  I have trouble seeing them playing well off each other.   A lot of your turn, my turn.

His talent is real though.....but he may be crazy.

What would a package consist of?   Dinwiddie and Hardaway?

He was fine when he let Harden run the point.  He even offered to let James have that role.  Luka and Harden have a lot of similarities.
