GS killed us with a frontcourt of Looney/Green/Wiggins.  We could better match with Wood/*PF/Finney-Smith.

*PF = Randle or Collins

By the way, Randle (12th), Wood (9th), and Collins (16th) were both top 20 rebounds per 48 minutes last year.

PG - Luka
SG - Dinwiddie
SF - Finney-Smith
PF - Randle or Collins
C - Wood

Assumption here is that Brunson is used to trade for Randle or Collins.

Is there any scenario in which we get back Randle?

Theoretically....question of whether Nico wants that for team building.

I personally would just want Reddish + 2023 pick.
Reddish+Grimes/Keels+2023 pick....Get it done Nico.
Knicks can clear up the necessary cap space rather easily. Mavs are screwed.

Nico is officially on notice.

Who is taking their players into empty space without getting a 1st in return?

PJ wants to get paid. It doesn't look like the Sixers have room under the apron for a 30M offer (the big MLE), but I wouldn't expect PJ to take less.

What's the game plan? Am I missing some obvious move, or are the Sixers still needing to make some things happen?
This will all come down to how much Brunson's camp wants that 5th year.  I think his exist was planned long ago.

If his camp wants that with a player option to hedge against injury.  The Mavs will get something out of this transaction.

Brunson cant get a bigger or longer deal via a SNT. He can only get 5th year in a deal with Mavs.

Ok, Thx.  I forgot about that in SNT's.

There is no universe where Brunson gets traded for Collins.  Like none.  Unlikely that Randle was ever on the table either.  I don't really think Randle makes sense here anyways, but it probably doesn't matter.

I think DAL is the one who says no to Randle. NY would love to find a taker and get out from under that contract.

After the GS ouster, I can't believe they think we're ok with DFS at PF.  Randle is top 5 PF in every category.  Slide DFS to SF and we have a starting frontcourt of Wood/Randle/DFS to compete with anyone.

I'd love to move DFS to the 3 if they can find a bigger wing, but I really don't see Randle as the guy. I don't think they can build a championship level defense with him in the frontcourt.

Like I was trying to explain to some others in a different thread, you've got that backwards.

Brunson would have the ball, not Murray. In the NBA, what these guys care about is who has the ball.

(06-28-2022, 05:38 PM)nash_funk Wrote: [ -> ]Wood/Randle/DFS

That combo would be terrible, imho. Randle is neither a screener nor a spacer. In fact, the only good seasons he has ever had was when he was allowed to play as he prefers: facing up with the ball, trying to get downhill off of the dribble. In other words: running the offense.

He is very, very not a fit here.

Absolutely. The buyer's remorse on Randle has got to be massive.

Sucks for Brunson if they can't move him. Like Luka, he's a pnr guy who needs a pnr big.
