Toronto: "We have Dragic, what'll you give me for him?"

Nico: "Meh, maybe Powell.  Otherwise we'll just wait for a buyout."

Donnie: "We have enough cap space to absorb his salary, but we're still waiting on Kawhi's decision.  We'll get back to you next week."

I don't want to have anything to do with those kind of theories, not interested at all. I think we have way to few information to be able to figure out. I also think Stein is way better than to be used by a team/agent.

As I said, I don't see much reason why they would just buy out a player on expiring deal at this point in the season. I guess this gives Toronto a stronger negotiating position to demand more than just negative contracts like Powell and Burke. What is more is under discussion and I totally agree with opinions Mavs should not pay a FRP. Of course I might be wrong.

Ha!!!

Heart u Scott. Don't be mad at me for not thinking they're punting. I'm not mad at you for thinking they would be punting.

The media literally has only TWO sources for info:

1) Teams

2) Agents/players

That's it. The media gets fed their info from one of those two sources....or they are just making things up.

Also, teams and agents/players are trying to accomplish their goals this time of year and so this time of year is full of misinformation and half truths. The media cannot know what they are being fed is really accurate other than get as many sources as possible and try to connect the dots and be sleuths (just like we do on here).

There is a reason that Shams and Woj generally only report stuff when things are done. They basically stay 100% out of the rumor mill, though they will pass along general beliefs about a team's interests. Even then we have seen both of them be a little off in their information this year.

Stein is GOOD, no doubt, but he is still being fed info from VERY biased parties who have agendas with millions of dollars at stake. Of course he is going to try and cross check his info as much as possible, but he is still being used as a mouthpiece. They ALL are. No media type is exempt from that.

I didn't see him say anything like that. All I saw was a statement he would like to play with Doncic once again
KOC said on the Mismatch pod just released that the Mavs are a team to watch for Markennen. They are interested according to him. 31:15 mark of the pod.

FWIW, lots of teams have been announcing official signings for hours now.....

....the Mavs have not. It could mean that they are waiting on some other dominoes to drop.

The Knicks have only announced signing their 1st round pick. Nothing else.
What do we think about Powell/Green/Terry for Markennen/White?

Not really very clear on White’s value but they just paid Caruso so would imagine the primary guard rotation will be Ball/Lavine/Caruso.

Lot of wishful thinking RE: Dragic.  If the positions were flipped, no way would we want to trade him for Powell and other garbage: negative value player(s) with two years remaining on their contract.

Worst case you hold on to Dragic until the deadline and get a couple of 2nd round picks.

I haven't really seen a reasonable argument for why TOR would do that trade other than Dragic would prefer to be in Dallas.  Toronto would be in a worse position after the trade than they are right now.

Hopefully Duffy comes through and works out a middle ground where we send a future 2nd and/or Terry instead of a future 1st or Josh Green.

edit:  If I'm Toronto, I'd rather release/buy out Dragic for nothing rather than take back Powell.  Masai doesn't seem like the guy to release an asset for nothing unless he really wants to owe Duffy a favor.

That's surprising since legend has it that if Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson don't sign with a team Thibs disappears in a puff of smoke.

Of course not.

Did you read the part where I agreed that not giving up Terry, Green or Brunson (the speculated ask, at the time) was the right line to toe? I've written that many times.

I'm saying if they didn't have a deal in place for Dragic (it very much seemed they did), why didn't they get someone else? They can't go into the season without a playmaker of his caliber or higher. Those guys are not a dime a dozen. There aren't very many of them, and they HAD to get one.

It's not over, but I'm getting worried.
