No argument that Luka needs to improve his effectiveness. Don't know if it's a conditioning thing, new scheme thing, early season thing. I'm thinking he'll be OK longer term.

But the point differential is also a reflection of who he is playing with, isn't it? So it says the starters overall are pretty crappy so far.

Time for a change?

Fat Luka and never healthy KP!!!
Also, I dislike these jerseys quite a bit. Looks like a shiny ribbon on the sides.

This was a super well done video. Weird to see since the Mavs promotional department seems to always be so corny.
I think Luka's effort in defense is inconsistent. He has made several good defensive plays in first few games but I also watched him failed to close out on shooters well. I think he must strive to improve himself on defensive rotations and closing out on shooters. At least, make it harder for opposing shooters to shoot jumpers.

Agreed.  The thing is this...you can have 4 incredible defenders and one guy doesn't give effort on 1 or 2 rotations and the first 4 don't matter.
Yep, a good defender is someone who puts up consistent effort, not one who is erratic. Players don’t know what they’re gonna get from you one possession to the next and every breakdown they have to cover up is just more of a beatdown. Takes a special person to keep their intensity through that and keep giving consistent high level effort.

Won't get the vaccine...fine. Won't even show up to get tested, as per the requirements of his employer and approved by the players association??!

I honestly have no idea why @"dirkfansince1998" defends Trey Burke, at this point.

Good freakin' grief!

I absolutely do not believe that this is about a trade demand, so there is nothing but bad vibes and stupidity to bring that up.  This isn't DSJ part 2, I legit believe he's hurt.  I also read McMahon and unless he kept growing his story like that fish he caught that one time keeps getting bigger, the first thing he said was that KP "wouldn't have minded" at the end of last season if he had been traded...in fact, I heard an interview where they specifically said that he DIDN'T go formally ask for a trade, but he was just frustrated with his usage at the end of the season.  I find it interesting how all these podcaster guys are incrementally growing that narrative from where it started to "now" he was demanding a trade at the end of the year.

As for people who go "well, Kidd said he was okay" -- right after the game, he might have thought that and really thought it would be day to day at worst.  He's not sitting at home and away from the team like DSJ was...he's on the bench, cheering on his team...

I also have a news flash for people who keep on saying "Well, just trade him for Marcus Smart" -- Brad Stevens isn't going to trade a guy because he's upset that two ball dominant non-passing guards won't share the ball for ANOTHER GUY who just was upset that the ONE ball dominant passing guard who WILL pass it didn't share the ball enough.  That's like trading a guy because he's got a broken arm, for a guy with two broken arms...that's NUTS.  So that's not happening.

BUT SERIOUSLY!

We will never WIN and get the benefit of this cat if he doesn't get healthy and play better!!!

We will NEVER trade this cat if he doesn't get healthy and play better!!!  Then of course, he will have to play better for like a thousand years before anyone will trade anything for him...and then Mark won't trade him!!!

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  WHAT IS THIS HELL YOU PUT US IN, LITTLE WHISTLE!??!!!

I mean he doesn't get game checks for the games missed due to violation of COVID protocols. Him missing the testing window almost certainly qualifies for that.

As for defending Burke, he's the only 3rd stringer that can come in here and be like a microwave.  Pretty valuable skill at times when Frank/JB/S.B. all have nothing going on.

I do think this kind of behavior is hinting to Burke wanting out by way of buyout. I don't know why but I don't see why he'd voluntarily miss the testing window 4 separate times and forego game checks for all of them.

I can't believe @"dirkfansince1998" found someone who agrees with him.

I really don't have an iota of care for Burke. He's about as a non-factor as it gets for me.

But his ability to get hot really fast is the only reason why he's on this team now and why Donnie handed him a 3 year deal. It's up to you if you want to live with that fact or not.

Well played, sir.

What was I thinking. Who would ever think that Burke is better than one of the most reliable and productive bigs in the league. Thankfully you have opened my eyes. Boban should be starting. Burke needs to be traded or waived asap.

Wow Clutch!! There is a Mavsboard twitter!

How quickly can we tweet out the Covid thread? :-D

And can we dig up the Luka's Tats thread to tweet out too? :-D
Unfortunately the 24/7 site Lukafer thread is no longer accessible...
