Because we have not cap room moving forward, does releasing him cause any issues?

I wouldn't even think twice about the two.  Brown is very talented on a ridiculously small contract.

But it's all still stretching speculation.  We'd still need to add a lot more salary if we were trading for Dragic.

VP2 get the low down from Bob.
So many sauces!
But the Mavs were so confident.   Big Grin

I don't know if Cuban is punking his fanbase or is just clueless.   Although it is making his organization worse naming the guys they almost traded for or the stars who wanted to play in Dallas, while not being able to get any star to sign here year after year.

Lol.

Cuban thinks these stories make him seem cool. "Look how close we were to these blockbuster deals!" "Kobe, Shaq, Pierce, all wanted to be a Mav!"

Yet, nothing ever happened. In the story about Pierce, Cuban said a 1st round pick was the holdup and that's what killed the deal. Are you kidding me? You had a chance to add Pierce next to Dirk and decided to get cold feet over a first in the final minutes? Now he goes on about how Shaq kept saying "come get me"
and nothing happens. You know what? That's the difference between a team like the Lakers or Celtics versus the Mavs. They go out and make the big deal and do whatever they need to do. Cuban is all talk. I wouldn't be annoyed if the Mavs hadn't been trying to make a big splash for nearly a decade and constantly coming up short. Thank god the Mavs managed to get Luka.

As the years go on, the more I think Cuban is an egotistical prick that wants SO badly to be the coolest guy in the room but is stuck eating at a table by himself.

List of women I almost had sex with:
- Sharon Stone, Emily Ratajkowski, Naomi Campbell,...

List of women that wanted to have sex with me but I was busy:
- Sandra Bullock, Meg Ryan, Monica Belucci

List of women I actually had sex with: ...

Cuban is just pathetic with these statements
Be just like Cuban for the NBA to retroactively fine the Mavs for tampering.
He is admitting it in writing/sound.

NBA to take away the Mavs 2025 pick just to really screw over their trade options. ?

Any more former Knicks out there we can sign? We have most of them at this point. In all seriousness, it's a no risk, moderate reward move. Maybe Frank figures it out, but if not, just waive him. Should just be a training camp deal.

Reading the tea leaves of this news coming right after Burke wiped his Instagram, I think there's a non-zero chance that in this case it's a one in, one out situation.
Finally the Ntilikina Era is here. Only for training camp as of now but you gotta think he will earn a roster spot and push someone out. Bye bye Terry or Burke?

This was what I was thinking too when I read that.
Wonder if Frank is a sign that Goran is for sure not coming now.  Who knows, but I'm not even sure Frank is guaranteed to make the roster.

Can't be any less contribution than either of those two. Burke got 2 years for a flash-in-the-pan bubble performance and Terry is pure unrealized potential that may never come to anything without years of seasoning.

Edit - looked at his stats and maybe he is less of a contributor than either of Terry or Burke. Maybe he works out better as a defensive bench guy than a starter though?

Are you thinking a trade?  Or, Dallas cutting Burke with two seasons left?  Or, Burke to a third team?  Is he a S/W candidate spreading $6mm over 5 years just to pay Frank instead?  I don’t really know, but none of those sound super likely.

FWIW, Here is what I wrote last night but failed to hit enter:

Obviously, this could be Dragic roster-clearing related.  But there are other ways that don’t have to be related to Dragic at all:

1.  I’ve kind of assumed Burke is our emergency bench ball handler if Luka or Brunson had to miss time.  Can we go a week with Terry or McGlaughlin?  Don’t see it.  So, if Burke is out, some viable ball handling guard needs to be heading this way.

2. There are a good number of teams that could benefit from swapping a more expensive 1 year guy for a less expensive 2 year guy from a tax standpoint.  Dallas would rather have the more expensive one year guy and get off of Burke’s 22/23 tax hit.

3.  Some of the teams involved in rumored deals might need to drop salary.  Maybe the price for taking on someone in our TPE is getting rid of Burke’s second year.

4.  Or, maybe Burke wiping his Instagram account means nothing.
Can Frankie play the DSteve role?

I'm not sure. My gut says that they may just waive him. I also like your idea to trade him for a larger 1-year salary that fits into the TPE, but that would presumably need to be 2-for-1 to clear the roster spot.
