They came in with that double screen action (can't remember what they called it last year, but that doesn't matter because it's probably called something different now with the new staff) that was working at the beginning of the game (hence the early lead) and then the Hawks adjusted, first to force the ball in DFS's hands (which actually wasn't terrible at first) and then again to completely own it.

Kidd had no answer. The rest of the half was "let's throw the ball to KP in the high post and see what happens." Well, we should all know how that story ends by now.

KL. I see from your posts that you are being too critical of the coaching staff over one game and romanticizing the past with RC.   Give them time.

Everyone said Lue was an inferior coach but in the playoffs he was better than RC while RC indulged in some questionable rotations.  Most neutral observers would agree that he clearly outcoached RC as the series went along. Kidd was calling the plays during our 2011 run. While I fully agree that a great player doesn’t necessarily translate to a great coach, I also see too often players like Kidd and Lue are not given credit for their basketball IQ.  Give this staff some time.

I wouldn't say so. Not that Lue was bad, not at all, he did great adjustments. But he had far more talent and possibilities to work with than RC. There was not much else RC could do in that series, imho.

My intent is not to declare Kidd a bad coach after one game or “romanticize” anything about Carlisle. I am simply comparing the one game of Kidd that we have seen to the factual reality of what we have seen from Carlisle’s offense in the past.

I agree that we should give him time. I also agree that there are things Carlisle didn’t do so well that can be improved upon. But the offensive display we were given last night was 2 to 3 noticeable tiers lower than what we are used to.

Just to show you I’m not on a witchhunt here, I do agree with those who say the defensive effort in the first half was noticeably improved! Especially from Luka and Porzingis. I don’t think buy-in is an issue with this team, currently, at least after one game, and as we’ve discussed all summer that’s at least half of what the coach must achieve.

Hell, some of the things that drove me crazy last night might’ve been players simply not executing the plan correctly. Maybe Kidd was as frustrated as I. Time will tell.
what type of rag tag organization has Cuban been running the last 10 years.  Just complete madness.  For a guy who is front and center at most games he has been completely inept besides rolling lucky 7's with Luka.

I wish the Joneses would make Cuban an offer he can't refuse.  They'd certainly correct a ton of problems that Cuban seemingly can't overcome.  I know they'd introduce their own share of issues but it sure would be nice to have an ownership group that understands recruiting and marketing.
Sick Chandler Parsons

RC and Donnie were not the answers but they were far from the biggest problem...that is Cuban!

This definitely confirms my eye-test, D is forcing some really difficult shots from the opponents. Let's hope they can keep it up!

One of the reporters commented that he was pulling a page from RC with that comment....

Kidd went from annoying with asking the question back to the reporter to full blown asshole with the "I have to apologize that you felt he should play more" comment.  Talk about being too big for your britches.  Someone remind him that he's done next to nothing as an NBA head coach beyond getting fired.

Yeah, especially considering that it wasn't bad question either.
