MacMahon reminds me of Kendrick Perkins in the NBA 2k21 storyline where he's just saying things about your character that isn't true, and the agent tells you, and says "don't worry about it.  He's got a job to do, they are expecting him to come up with something and he's got a family to feed".
I'd do Brunson + THJ + Powell for Ben Simmons without hesitation.

We all would, my guy.

If only...

Maybe there's a three way deal here that makes sense for all involved. This from Philadelphia Inquirer:

The team (Sixers) has engaged in ongoing discussions with the Detroit Pistons to acquire Grant, another forward, a young player, and a draft pick in exchange for Simmons, league sources said. One source said power forward/center Kelly Olynyk and second-year swingman Saddiq Bey were mentioned as players who could be included in a possible deal. However, a source said the Pistons are unlikely to include Bey, a Villanova product, or Olynyk.

I'm going to err on the side of caution for this one.

We've heard almost every single Ben Simmons rumor since the summer, yet nothing about how Luka wants Ben in Dallas.

Further we've NEVER heard Luka expressly say "Yeah I want to play with this guy in Dallas." Not even with Dragic was he that direct.

Third, the tweet comes from a random Sixer's beat writer. I don't know why he'd have the scoop first over any of our guys in Dallas.

But lets play pretend. Who gets shipped out for Ben? Is it crazy that I wouldn't put KP in that deal?

Caution is fine.....BUT....

1) The Mavs would never leak this on their end.

2) If someone would know this and leak it, it would come from the PHI end because DAL cannot hide their trade conversations with PHI from PHI.

3) It would explain some of Kidd's system that makes very little sense with the current roster.

KP is the easy solution when it comes to salary matches but he is also a terrible fit for the 76ers. Would most likely require a 3rd team that prefers KP over Simmons.
On paper KP (in the RC system role) would also be a good fit for a Doncic/Simmons team. Need three legit shooters around them. I guess Maxi could start at center but he isn´t going to play 30+ minutes for 82 games. If KP is gone the Mavs would need to find another stretch big or extend the trade to include a player like Olynyk.

1) Maybe the old Mavs front office. We have no idea when it comes to Nico and how tight he is regarding leaks to the press. Unless that is Mark is still running the show, then yeah I agree they'd never leak it.
2) See point 1. I agree that if any team would benefit from a leak like that it'd be the Sixers.
3) Simmons would probably fit much better on paper. I have some serious concerns about his overall attitude and general will to win.
Brunson + THJ --> Detroit

Grant + Green + Kleber + Mavs pick --> Philadelphia

Simmons --> Dallas

If Det is accepting THJ and JB for Grant, what are we waiting for?

When you only play for three quarters, you aren't going to beat many teams, much less good or great ones.

Blow it up, Chuck!
3pt %ages

DFS 37.93%
Maxi 37.70%
THJ 34.15%
Frank 34.09%
JB  33.82%
Luka 32.48%
KP 29.55%
SBrown 27.5%
Bullock 25.77%

and, yes, ... not all 3pt shots are created equal, but the SBrown/Bullock stats are particularly egregious.

[edit - let me save on posts!]

Also, Frank at only 11 minutes, considering, e.g., in this game, the poa-D he played on Harden and the general lift to the team-D level whenever he is on the floor, is ridiculous(ly little). Reggie worked hard on D-ing Harden, but he's nowhere near in the same conversation. He should be getting close to 30m if the team is really going to run this Kidd-D discussed in the thread that degenerated into discussing Luka's sandwich preferences.

Green put in effort on the defensive end (which is obviously an upgrade on THJ) and has reasonable physical tools (making an upgrade on JB), but he doesn't have any refinement to his defensive game. Sure, it was only 5 minutes, but I'm not at all convinced yet. I need to see some evidence of off-ball D-IQ and/or D-organizational skills before I really would buy into him as an upgrade on Reggie on D.

Here is where the mistake is...

When shots aren't falling...this team has no skills to fall back on to score.

Who is more valuable...a 43% one dimensional player(who is going to have off nights or miss clutch shots here and there) or a 36% player whom is multidimensional?

Or is "we are getting clean looks" going to be the lazy, easy answer?

Winner, winner, chicken, dinner.

And it makes the Bullock signing all the stranger.  At least when they went after Delon and JRich, those were guys with some, albeit overrated, ball handling and creation skills.  From a one dimensional standpoint, we already had our stable with DFS/Maxi and a hope and a prayer with Green.   Schröder signed a deal for less than 6M, Caruso starting at 8.6M.  Either would add dimensions this team sorely needs.
