If I was responsible for coaching players how to do interviews, lesson #1 would be to dodge all questions about anyone but yourself. It's a classic trap designed to fish for a controversial quote. And it's also incredibly lazy and disrespectful to get a guy on camera only to ask him a question about a more popular player. Did the reporter even watch the game or just have a Luka question in the hopper for anyone who agreed to talk?

I agree. I had no problem with his unease at the question. Given everything that flew around after the playoffs, that's probably not a topic he wants to touch. I wouldn't either. Especially at the beginning of a promising season.

I get asked about IGT all the time. It makes me very uncomfortable!

Mavs were in a groove from the start. Charlotte was missing 3 key players. Not going to go ga-ga over a preseason blowout. When they play for real, it'll be different trust me.

For sure! But can you go ga-ga, in a preseason sort of way, over ball movement, different defensive scheme and energy, Sterling Brown looking good, KP moving well and being involved and happy, a Josh Green dunk, and Powell both hitting a 3 AND driving around a close out and dunking on someone?
I was talking to my buddy about Josh Green's passing skills and was wondering how you guys feel about moving him to point guard full time.

When I say point guard I mean letting him be the main guy facilitating the offense when he is in their.

not now...my main concern is him getting better at shooting then he can add to his tool box...there is something telling me his instincts and IQ are above average at minimum and I believe him closer to 2/3 of the League...so PG Luka like role is not out of the question due to his awareness this young into his career...

If Green develops a dependable shot he is a top 5 player on the team...

If JG develops a shot, he's the guy we have wanted next to Luka all along.

I'm the lowly equipment manager!

He’s closer to that than French Frank is. Maybe Burke too. So sure, 3rd PG could be his role.

Really expecting SB to thrive. He is the most well rounded player from the bunch of wings. DFS and Bullock can't dribble. JG can't shoot, THJ can't defend. While Brown excels in shooting and has good handles, good enough vision and can defend decently. Dude has no real glaring weakness.

His passing skills are really good for a wing.
As a PG? I'm not so sure.
As a PG you need to setup the plays, read what's going on, all this while keeping your dribble alive while being harassed even from midcourt by opposing guards. While JG is smart and you can tell he is, it takes composure and dribbling ability to get to spots and take control of what's happening. Not sure if JG has that in him.

I'll take him as an SG who can pass really well, really good as a ball mover. I just hope he asserts more on offense this year.
Mav's to sit KP and Luka tonight.  THJ is also out (Rest) as is Bullock (Personal Reasons) and Tyrell Terry (cause he's Tyrell Terry).

Green is starting with DP, Maxi, DFS and Brunson.  Interested to see who gets the PF minutes besides Maxi (DFS?  EO?).  Will Burke be given the chance to compete/showcase or will they go straight to the young guys when Brunson is out?  Or, will we get a SBrown, Frank guard tandem trying to run point.  How will Frank look against non-scrubs (assuming Milwaukee doesn't also rest most of their starters also).

I haven't seen this discussed, but if they end up cutting Burke or Terry with their guaranteed money in 22/23, wouldn't they Stretch-Waive them to spread that money out a little?  Obviously a trade is better.  Both can be classified as mistakes of the past regime (except that the leader of the past regime is still here).

I like that lineup. I'm inteterested to see how it does.

As much as I want DFS to start, and as much as the Mavs want DP to start, if the Mavs ever wanted to platoon the lineups, I'd give this lineup a shot as the platooned second unit. It's all moot since the Mavs aren't going in that direction, but not much else to post about at the moment.
Looks like Mavs are not even considering waiving Burke.

Sidenote. Cuban claims his statement was while RC was coach. RC stepped down on June 17th while Cuban made that statement on June 25th, if internet sources are correct. Kidd was not a coach yet, though

Final cut coming tonight after the game, according to Cuban
Cuban about all employees must be vaccinated statement and Burke - Burke is under rules of collective bargaining agreement, not considered as his employee.
