Chriss, Knight, Thomas -- I'm sensing a veteran pattern.

And here's where the roster spot came from. Bummer about Knight, as he played really well.

Finally...Isaiah Thomas should have been a Mav 5 years ago
When does Luka come back?

Really cool best case scenario:

Luka comes back, is better off because of the rest, has dropped excess weight, experienced super mild covid symptoms with no residual affect, AND...

Nico and Kidd decide that KP is feeling better about himself and that THEY feel like they know what they need to know about the roster, SO...

Superstar Luka hits the ground running, Coach stops some of the experimentation, Coach starts unleashing the Luka/KP pnr more often, COACH trends toward more 1-Big and Spread pnr, the team gets more comfortable witih the new defense and gets their legs back so they can make shots,

and the team starts winning like crazy.

Oh, and Mark sees the winning and is willing to pay the Tax in order to keep JB and DFS.

What's the worst case scenario for the next 5 months?
IT is already in protocol

I wonder if we're about to have another wave of guys out

Mavs continue to play suboptimal lineups, make cosmetic adjustment at TDL that doesn't change anything. They qualify for play-in and lose to Clippers in the deciding play-in match.

Oh wow! Getting knocked out of the playoffs 3 years in a row would be horrible!
Also, not trading KP before he goes down for the rest of the year and most all of next would qualify in worst case scenario.

Dog gone. All y'alls scenarios seem more likely than mine.

Actually, a good trade probably trumps my "best case".

Powell starting next to KP and getting heavy minutes the rest of the season..

I'm almost surprised. After he didn't see the floor last game I thought he wasn't going to be back. I guess we still need the body

I think he clearly has the most upside and when everyone is healthy provides the best chance to get playing time.   I think they really tightened the rotation last game.   I think once he learns more of the system, he has a chance to get some playing time here.

Mavs need to find a spot though.

I think it's pretty obvious he's here to replace WCS. I'm shocked the Mavs haven't waived him yet. Hopefully we can find some trade where WCS can be thrown in.

I think so, too, and I think they're probably just holding off to see if WCS's contract helps to size up a deal as a throw in. I have a strong feeling we're never going to see him in a Mavs uniform again.
6 weeks to Feb 10th

It's probably more about WCS than it is Chriss who is a foul machine.  Pinson's played the best in my estimation.

I agree, but he's the least needed when everyone is healthy, especially if Josh Green is actually getting a continued shot at rotation minutes. DFS, THJ, Bullock, SBrown, Green, Luka and Brunson all have at least a little overlap with Pinson, role wise. Without Chirss (or WCS) Boban would actually be the third center, at least until they get serious about playing KP there which will never happen because the universe hates me.
