How do you guys feel about THJ now?

I am a THJ fan but he may not fit what Kidd's vision is for this team which is ball movement and free flowing offense.

I have still maintained that he is the guy you have to move if it means you have to do it to keep Brunson. I do not think they need THJ's skillset on this team.

How do you guys feel about it?
THJ is best used as a stationary catch & shoot finisher off penetration or post ups. I'm fine with him in that role, especially when he's cookin', but he's not a ball mover. In theory, his shooting helps the spacing.

Green is THJ's polar opposite. He's a movement player. I worry about the lack of shooting in the playoffs but it's not like he stands on the three point line while his man clogs the paint. He cuts into space and finds open shooters himself. Granted, last night was probably his best as a pro, and he only played 26 minutes against an abysmal defense, but his play was inspiring.

But the guy I worry about more than THJ is Luka. He's a first team All-NBA guard in a heliocentric offense. I know he can play in a movement offense ... the big question is will he?

Stupid thing to say.  Carlisle is a championship coach.

Don't think it was a RC observation....

Yeah, I didn't get anything about Carlisle out of that.

If I squint, I can almost see a shot at Luka, but even that might be reading something into it that isn't intended, tbh.

"____ just different" and "____ built different" have become meaningless NBA platitudes over the past few years. I think the implied comparison is to everyone, everywhere, as if to say "we're special."
I just read it as Kidd praising good team play and perhaps being particularly excited after a game when KP was so productive and Green looked like Nash out there. Not every statement has to be driven by some secret negative subtext.

I could be wrong, but I took the statement to just mean that he thinks they're improving and starting to do some of the things he wants them to do.

Sounds like his take is that when he started working with these guys they weren't playing with movement and they were playing more for themselves instead of their teammates. He sees progress towards how he wants them to play, with movement and sharing.
My first reaction on seeing Kidd's comment was that he was throwing shade at Carlisle, and I didn't think he had earned the right.

After seeing some discussion where Callie, among others, tried to explain that the context belied that, I am more inclined to think it was a comment about how the team has improved during the season, with a soupçon of self-aggrandizement mixed in.
Everyone is quoting me, lol. I didn't think it was a shot at anyone, necessarily, and my post plainly stated as much. @"Kammrath" seems to think it was a shot at Luka (if I understood him). You guys should argue with him, not me!

I just chimed in to say that I definitely didn't get a shot at Carlisle out of it. I highly doubt Kidd even thinks about Carlisle ever, unless the Mavs are preparing to play the Pacers. Or vice versa, for that matter. Our infatuation with this Kidd vs. Carlisle topic is much more interesting to me than the topic itself. Carlisle has nothing to do with the Mavericks anymore.

EDIT: I guess is was only fifteenth who quoted me. I get panicky when the greatest human on this board calls me out, sorry!

Not ONLY Luka, but the whole team earlier in the season. But let's be honest, the offense goes as Luka orchestrates it when he is in, so I think Luka is first in line (Luka absolutely often runs the O in a way that I would call "your turn, my turn") though not the specific or only "target."

My point was Kidd was firing shots about how the team has been playing this year versus how they played in this game.

No worries, KL, we get it.

Despite fifteenth's statement that he is not normal, his argumentation often constitutes a classic representation of the "Everyman" rhetorical device. Leading one to think that Every Man is saying what he is saying.

Yo yo, @"KillerLeft" , my best pal and basketball daddy. I just quoted you because you were, at that moment, the last post in the conversation. I might start quoting snippets of the whole conversation that I'm tring to be part of so I don't cause so much confusion. :-)

Also, I agree with you. I didn't see a shot at RC in JKidd's quote. In fact, before 5-out, RC's Mav's offense was known for player movement, and Kidd played in that "movement" offense. It's possible that we could even consider Rick as one of JKidd's influences, since that's the offense where JKidd won a championship.

Lastly, although I'm far from the greatest human in any context, I do call you out sometimes, and it's always for your awesomeness!
