He might get an owee if he rolls to the basket, and we're left with John Wall II.

I know.  Smile
So I'm alone in being nervous that we're angling for Oubre?

Idk...good question. Man, did THAT dude overplay his hand.

With the way our off-season has went, I would probably get excited for that add ??

He had like 70 turnovers last season to 72 assists and shot 31% from 3PT.  He had a 1/21 December from deep.

It is THE single biggest frustration of mine with this team. Hands down.

I might be somewhat on board with it if it's something like 3/15 with the third year being a team option.

Assuming his price continues to drop the longer it drags out, at some point he'll become a value.

Yeah, when they made the trade, I'm pretty sure most of us had visions of the new Jet/Dirk two-man game in our heads. A version customized for Luka/KP, of course, but them playing TOGETHER in a way that would always give the Mavs some thing to rely on in the last five minutes.

I think it could still happen. Jake Fischer, who has been first and right on a lot of what’s happened for the Mavs this offseason, has connected the Mavs to Oubre numerous times. He’s still out there, and as bad as he is.. he’s a 25 year old wing with good size, I am surprised he’s still available.

I'd be extremely surprised if we picked up yet another wing at this point.

I get it…but he can at least create a bit for himself and is good defensively. A good rebounder so he can play the 4 in a small ball lineup. Right now we only have maxi if we want to go small with KP as the 5 man. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t love it, but I feel he could serve a purpose.

With all that said I’m really curious why Reggie Jackson has not signed with the clips. Are they not willing to offer him the max of $10.9 million. Could we jump in and steal him? One can hope!
Trying to see this from Toronto's perspective...

If I'm Toronto and I don't like what Mavs are (potentially) offering in a trade, then are there any other realistic trade partners? Non-contender teams will want a price for absorbing that contract and contending teams would struggle to match salaries without giving up more than Dragic is worth (I think).

So other option would be to keep him, but that goes against player (and agent) wishes and could bite the team in future dealings.

That leaves a buyout which doesn't hurt Toronto and may save the owner a little money.

So if I'm the Mavs then waiting for the buyout seems like the best option if Toronto is asking for assets I don't want to give up on a trade.

Maybe I'm looking at this too strongly through my fan glasses but I think Mavs are handling this Dragic situation the right way so far.

If they do, that will tell us they they're going to play their biggest wing at the 4 A LOT.

They value payroll hierarchy a lot. Also you can’t play 5 out all the time with KP. The offense gets stale, that’s probably the conclusion after last year. And when we assume KP can’t roll to basket for whatever reasons (skill and health are both factors Imo) then, well, you’ve once again arrived at DP being the solution.

I really think this is what is being planned here. It’s probably also the easy option for Nico to fall back on. Playing it safe with a large chunk of the old roster and some low risk additions.

If things go south he’ll won’t have dug himself a hole with expensive contracts and it’s pretty easy to point towards the bad asset base and contracts he was dealt with.

Heck he can easily sacrifice Kidd, too, without taking damage as he was mostly the guy Cuban and hus group of advisors wanted here immediately after RC was gone.

He had over 16 Mio in capspace and was brought in for his connections - he got us Bullock - if this goes south it's on him.

Two for two!

Keep 'em coming, my dude!

That's the first time I've heard someone describe KP as their biggest wing, but you're not wrong. Wink
