OK, that is good to know.  Thank you very much.

Just out of curiosity, though, ...

1.  What is your best estimate of the probability that the Mavs will win at least four of their five remaining regular season games?

2.  What is your best estimate of the probability that the Warriors will win all five of their remaining regular season games?
GS has lost 4 in a row, 7 of last 8, 12 of last 17, and 16 of last 23. They are more likely to go 0-5 than 5-0.

Some might say they’re due to go on a tear. They’re a really good NBA team too.

Really?

Golden State plays AT HOME against Utah on Saturday (April 2).  Utah has lost FIVE in a row.  Utah has a LOSING road record. Golden State looked pretty damned good (in my opinion) in their loss to the Suns last night.  That loss dropped the Warriors' home record to 29-10.

Golden State's other remaining games are against teams with W-L records (currently) of 28-49, 31-44, 31-45, and 33-43 (a combined winning percentage of .405).

So ...

Do you agree or disagree with my previous statement that "Golden State will be favored in ALL FIVE of their remaining games"?

And ...

If Golden State is, in fact, more likely to win than to lose, in ALL FIVE of their remaining games, would you agree that it is mathematically IMPOSSIBLE for Golden State to be "more likely to go 0-5 than 5-0"?
A 5 game win streak is just about perfect to have going into the playoffs.

Just to be clear ...

I do not expect Golden State to go 5-0 in their remaining games.  I was merely pointing out that a 4-1 finish by the Mavs would not "clinch the the 3rd seed for sure," if the expression "for sure" means "probability = 100%" (which is the commonly accepted mathematical meaning of that expression).
Sorry if my opinion came across as a statement of math. Way too many variables imho for math to give us answers here. But my expectation is that Utah gets its missing pieces back and GS doesn’t.

Favored in each of its remaining games? I dunno. They have really sucked as of late. Including late last night in handing the Suns the W after dumbass Devin Booker tried really hard to hand it to them.

I thought we had a Dirk appreciation thread but I couldn’t find it for some reason. So I didn’t know where else to put this. I thought this was so very Dirk to not even put himself on the list.
Bumped the thread for you.

Ya, very Dirk to not put the greatest Euro to ever play...to date, on the list!

Either Kukoc or Schrempf could be bumped off to accommodate him. Also, Sabonis ahead of Gasol on first team and Luka dropped to second team (or off the list) until he accomplishes something (which he will, it's just too early to put him on a list like this, if his career ended now, all there would be is unrealized hopes and dreams). I think Petrovic could also be either a scratch or drop candidate.

I’m definitely biased but to me Dirk should clearly be #1 on that list. And it’s not even close. But him being humble is just one of the things that makes him Dirk.

Well, when he's ahead of all other Euros on all time lists everywhere, it's not bias.

Very true. It’s just a fact.

1. Well, completely made up percentages, but I'll go with the Mavs having chances of

5-0 - 10%
4-1 - 25%
3-2 - 40%
2-3 - 15%
1-4 - 8%
0-5 - 2%

2. I'd give the Warriors a 5% chance of going 5-0. You have to consider that even if the Warriors were favored to have, say a 60% chance of winning each individual game, the odds of winning all of them would be under 10%. And I don't think the Warriors odds are that good with Curry out.

That’s a classic! I miss good ole Bob Ortegal. He can do that!

Well..they aren't off to a good start getting blown out at Washington, then they get the Bucks and last go to Detroit who's been playing well and tanking at the same time. Not as easy as it seems.
Not sure the last game of the season against SA is gonna be all that easy. Pop will probably want to retire with a win and not get swept for the season by the Mavs as well as they might be fighting to get to the play-in.
