Shooting wise, yeah, but he still made some good plays defensively in that second half.  He rotated well defensively all night.

I'm sorry, I know it's just one game, but what does it tell you when a guy that joins the team a few hours before, and doesn't attend a practice, actually seems to know the defensive rotations better than most of the guys on the roster currently?  Maybe he was just guessing and fighting for his career that gave him the extra oomph, but I was like "I wish 'X' would get the second and third rotation like that"

This could be an extreme overreaction, but to me, knowing the rotations and executing are basic things, and a lot of our guys don't seem to do it well.  It's like a busted coverage in football that happens play after play.  Granted, there's no huddle after every play to straighten a dude out and the plays happen in shorter bursts in football, but I mean, come on.

That´s it. Throw in the towel and tank. How are the Mavs supposed to win without him???
I saw one site that listed KP as probable.

Then Cooperstein put this out...

Looking more and more like it's going to be Jalen, Doe Doe and the NBA version of day laborers from the corner again...lol
Mavs 12-45 (26%) on threes against MIL.

I really don't understand what is with these reporters and statements like this (from Caplan article):

Former coach Rick Carlisle hardly ever played Porzingis in the post, and in Carlisle’s five-out offensive system, Porzingis accepted a more one-dimensional role in catch-and-shoot 3-point situations and as a pick-and-roll option with Luka Doncic.

Mavs were posting KP approximately the same under Carlisle and they infamously stopped only in playoffs - because he was terrible at it. KP had 3,7 post ups per game last season which was 20 % of his shots. This season this has increased to 4,2 attempts a game or 22 % of his shots. So number of attempts is basically same. EFG was bad both seasons and plummeted in playoffs.

Both seasons he is not used in PnR. Only 18 % of his shots last season dumped to 13,6 % this season.

I guess some average readers can be fooled by articles like this. Much more difficult to fool expert analysts in 29 other franchises, imho.

Bummer. I like Omoruyi, but it's hard to justify using a roster spot on a guy who can't play. Hopefully he can heal up and give it another go this summer.

Pinson would be a terrible waste of a 2-way spot. Why not try for someone with a non-trivial ceiling?

Yeah, really tough break for him.  I would imagine if he recovers, the Mavs would have an interest in inviting him back to camp next year.   Although this could have been a prime period to make more good impressions with everyone out.   He is an older rookie, so he probably is not an ideal two way guy again next year.   So, he is probably going to need to win a spot with limited visibility for the most part.

I was impressed with his feel on the court.  He has a real nice body.   I couldn't tell if he is a guy who can guard wings.  He lacks plus burst imo, but really knew how to use his body in my limited viewing.  Can he hit the open three consistently?   Either way, as an undrafted guy the Mavs did good there.  He was a guy I didn't even know until right before the draft.   Seemed to be a hard worker.  Good story too.
