.......

That is great, happy for you. But even if you think everything is fine it doesn't erase all other possibilities that are legit possible and that some of us are concerned about. Which doesn't equate we think everything is just a great conspiracy.

There are only two possibilities.

It's the one or the other.

All the Mavs are saying the same thing, doing the same thing - they are acting like Nico is the GM, in charge of everything that any GM does.

All of them say that. Kidd was hired by and reports to Nico. Finley was retained and reports to Nico. If he's still with them, Bob will be (re)hired by and report to Nico. That's the setup according to everyone, even Cuban.

It's not just talk, but the fact that all these people speak of Nico as their boss, and are reporting to him.

So...

If you say that isn't what is in place, you ARE saying there is a Big Conspiracy where Cuban, Nico, Kidd, and Fin are all telling lies to cover up the fact that Nico wasn't really put in charge.

Or, the other possibility is that what they are all saying, and doing, is because Nico was truly hired to be in charge.

It's the one or the other.

There are only two possibilities.

All these people? I didn't see public statements from Finley, Bob and rest saying they are reporting to Nico. Besides, they are not the only ones with the influence. Cuban clearly has his circle of trust, where there are people that we know don't report to Nico (Nowitzky) and there might be people we don't even know exist. Kidd is also part of this circle of trust - it is far from Nico coming to Cuban to report and receive assignment. It is Nico, Kidd, Nowitzky, Finley and perhaps others reporting, stating their opinion and Cuban making a decision. This was clearly said.

I am affraid it is not that black and white Smile I am trying to explain to you I am open to both options. Not saying there is conspiracy but also not convinced everything is just fine.
I saw an instagram story from Willie working out in the Mavs facility.    You could see KP in the background, so he is indeed back in Dallas.   I was trying to see if could identify anyone else but could not.   Maybe it doesn't even matter.   It looks like Maxi is back in Dallas as well.  Dwight does not post often but I am wondering if he is in Dallas now.   Or is he taking some time after the qualifying tournament or something else.

OR is he ahead of the game and already at his new team’s facility! One can hope, right?
As far as the Nico back and forth, MC could have another Rosas type hire in Nico (expectations and belief in what he was hired for is different than what MC thinks). I think not, because of his demand from other FOs and that MC probably WANTS to step into this role of making the big money decisions only. There is a good possibility that he already discussed that KP is off limits unless it’s a blow me away deal, which is why it looks like they want to work with him (and maybe it was a mutual agreement).

Quote:And in front-office news, after it was heavily rumored that Dallas was targeting a CBA-minded lieutenant to join new president of basketball operations Nico Harrison, the Mavericks have hired Brooklyn Nets official Andrew Baker, a respected salary-cap strategist, for a senior role in Dallas' new front office, sources said.

I thought we kept our own salary cap guy?

Keith Grant - yeah he’s still here. Glad they grabbed another cap-focused guy though, there’s been such little creativity from the Mavs on cap-maneuvering, they really need a new brain in there. Jake Fischer seems to be breaking a lot of Mavs news these days.

He also says this in the article (in addition to lumping in the Mavs with the Lowry suitors):
Dallas has actively explored trade scenarios involving Josh Richardson, sources said, in the event the swingman opts in to his 2021-22 player option. The Mavericks must make their own efforts to clear salary space for a planned spurge in free agency that still appears to prioritize retaining Tim Hardaway Jr. in addition to Dallas' other pursuits.

The Mavericks are also considered to be a possible landing spot for Jazz guard Mike Conley, although there's a strong belief around the league that Utah will be successful in its attempts to shed salary and offer Conley a substantial deal.”

Our old salary cap guy lead MC to believe plan powder was the only way to get FAs and helped him realize what the 2011 CBA was going to mean which lead us to disband most of our title team. TIME FOR A NEW CAP GUY!!!!!

So much for "now we'll have a clear organizational structure with Nico on top."

Was catching up and just noticed this. Missed it the first time. You ggotta realize that talk show hosts don't give coaches and front office folks some kind of truth serum before an interview. Nico was obviously trying to follow the company line of not giving out info about Bob (for whatever reason).

Funny thing is that they actually got a little info out of him, probably due to him not being used to these kinds of interviews.

After listening a second time, the Ticket guys extracted that the Mavs (or at least Nico) think Bob caused chaos, that Bob is still under contract, and that Bob isn't currently working in the building with Nico/Fin/Keith/Jason etc.

Looks like Harrison is building his own team. I think Nico simply gave Bob the full Mariah treatment in the interview....

Count me in that crowd. I think it looks like Nico is the boss.

I like that HE’S hiring people too. He came in with a pretty large pre-made staff under him. I would like to see more hires from him, but his own cap hire is HUGELY important. Like almost as huge as having a good cap guy in FGump or DLord on a message board! That kind of huge!

Who knew that Forrest Gump was so well versed in the NBA’s CBA?
Just thinking through (again) Nico's interview and all the Bob V. questions that everyone, including most of us, have had.

Something that Nico said mixed with @"F Gump"'s posts on the topic is finally clicking for me. Nico actually gave us the answer as clear as day. Nico is focused on the draft and free agency and isn't finalizing all his staff decisions until after all that. That's the answer! Apologies to those who saw this as obvious. I can be a little slow.

So, some of the staff decisions needed to be made sooner, and we see those happening. But some staff decisions have to wait. Bob is one of those that has to wait.

I'll say that if my contract was up soon, and I knew I'd have a meeting with the boss in a month or two that was essentially a job interview to determine if I was kept, and then I heard the boss refer to "all the chaos" that I had caused, I think I'd assume that I wasn't going to be invited back. I'd also assume that if i was an analytics guy, and I wasn't invited to the draft and free agency discussions, that I woudn't be invited back.
