In isolation this move is excellent, but if the end game is throwing all that money at Lowry it´s meh. I really hope the Pelicans, Sixers or Heat beat us to his signature, so we can go after other targets.

I hope that both Lowry and THJ are smokescreens - but that's too much to hope for. 

I don't hope that the Mavs get Lowry in a vacuum. It's that I don't think anyone else wants to come here, and because Cuban's dumb as dirt and loves our boys in blue, he's prioritizing THJ over the one other guy who wants to come here - Norman Powell. I'll have a Brogdon meltdown when NP goes off the board Monday night.

I don't know why you think Norman Powell wants to come here. He's going to get PAID by Portland because they have no choice.

If winning matters as much to him as the bag, he'll go somewhere else that has better prospects for the same money rather than betting on Dame's future happiness. NP isn't getting maxed. The salary the Blazers offer him will likely be "easily" matched.

Last time I checked, Mark Cuban still owns the team.

Mavs just need to raise the price on all FAs. Raise the price on Lowry, raise the price on Collins, on Ball, on Conley, Powell and Dinwiddie. They can then swoop in and get Graham/Holmes/Batum with few competing offers!

It's possible he might be but I still think secondary playmaker is their priority based on Cuban's comments.  Not a lot of options out there.

Also...if they do indeed pursue Lowry, I think it almost/pretty much confirms Mark is still running things.  Nico is just here for his connections.
