I doubt that Brunson knows what he wants this summer yet.  I'm sure he's aware of options but his role and impact in the playoffs can change so much about this conversation, on both sides.

Not going to lie that's kind of funny.  He's also acknowledging that it was a smart strategy since they were short handed though.  I mean, why not see if Andre Drummond can beat you.

You mean the same Jake Fischer that said in the same interview that Luka is a top 15-20 player "depending on how you frame it."?

Yeah OK.

If Cuban is at fault then I hope he is forced to sell the team.

If Donnie is making this up then he is a sad ego driven man.

So...

I'm guessing "no" on a Cuban presidential bid in 2024?
Wow.

In light of his tenure and his contributions for so long, Donnie's exit from the Mavs had felt way weird. He was always very loyal, but the parting of ways was never really talked about at all, and there was never even the typical fluff you get in praising a guy for his positives as you send him on his way. Didn't they win a title under his watch?! No interviews with Donnie, either, to find out what he felt and how he saw the termination.

Later, his absence from the Dirk jersey retirement was super puzzling. It was like the Mavs wanted to act like he never existed.

Plus, when he was fired, why did RC feel compelled to quit right after that?

Now we know ... and gotta say, this does offer a rational reason for the odd series of events ..  and imo the recitations and allegations are alarming on so many levels.
Cuban deserves no benefit of the doubt due to his past.   He needs to be fully transparanet.   I am not saying run him out of the town right away.  But if true and can be proven, he should be out.   I am sick and tired of all this.  He was already given his one chance to fix it.

On a basketball interest, was he really negotiating with Donnie for a 10 year 66 million contract?
I said it back then that Cuban covered a lot of stuff and believed it to be worse than Sterling's situation but I digress.

Not going to absolve Donnie in this either; sounds like he wants others to go down with him; wasn't one of the key players in the original SI piece involving Donnie's right hand man and close confidant? Forgot his name but he's obviously no longer with the organization.

All in all another terrible distraction to deal with when the team is playing its best basketball since 2011.

Already is Sad  There can't be any winner in this due to the nature of the offence and inability to make anything certain, permament stain on everyone involved. Mavs have way too much outside noise...
The bridge has officially been burned between Cuban and the Nelsons...they hate each other now. I guess this is the real reason why Cuban didn't invite the Nelsons to Dirk's jersey retirement.

Where there's smoke there's usually fire and there has been A LOT of smoke with Cuban over the last 5+ years with the sexual misconduct under his watch. Cuban and Jerry Jones are two clowns
I'm going to move this discussion to its own thread.
Well if Cuban can pay 52 million for hush money, then he can afford the luxury tax.

I don't know who to believe but it all just stinks.  Where is Cynt?  I need her to make a statement.  If Cuban tried to do something without her knowledge, how could she stay?  Again, this stinks.
Sounds great.

Cuban either offered Nelson a 66M 10 year extension to cover up another sexual harrassment charge or cause he is completely nuts.

Not sure Cuban can survive this, unless it can be proven to be completely made up and there is strong evidence to suggest so, cause we have long crossed the Sterling line. I doubt he can buy himself out of this one. Silver won´t let it slide a 2nd time.
I'm not a fan of either party, but my take is that there is a lot of insinuation about motive in this lawsuit ("He offered me 66 M because he 'wanted to hush me up' kind of stuff). I mean how do you prove someone's motive for a contract extension?

Cuban says there already was an investigation, but that sounds pretty vague as well. Who did the investigation? If the NBA has already investigated, then this should be an easy call. Who was paid for what?

It seems to me the real issue is whether there was sexual misconduct and if it needed to be exposed. Yet it doesn't really feel like that's what the lawsuit is about. It feels more like a vindictive exercise than any issue about someone actually being hurt. Are we supposed to think Donnie Nelson is the victim?

I'd be surprised if we don't pass Utah for 4th in the west.  The bigger question is whether we have a shot at 3rd given Curry's injury.  They are 4-6 in their last 10.  If they keep that up, they get five more wins to 52 if you round up.  Dallas is 8-2 in its last 10.  Keep that up and we get to 53 wins if you round down.  Season series is tied and right now we own the tie breaker with a better division record.

If we get 4th/5th, we are in the Phoenix bracket.  If we are 3rd, we'd catch Memphis in the second round assuming a first round win.  I'd rather catch Utah than Denver in the first round, but we won't be able to control what happens below us, so it is probably futile to target a specific first round opponent.  I do see value in avoiding Phoenix until the conference finals if we can.
