I noticed Cuban was sitting right next to Maxi last night and right behind Luka.   I believe that was to make sure both got back on the court right away.   LOL.   I can't imagine it is fun having him chirp next to you all game long.

With all the stats etc. we have discussed a lot the +/-. A "negative control" experiment is not having a player in the game. It is clear that the team is missing Luka Doncic. And it is also clear that Maxi's absence has been felt as well. The game where he returned, the defense looked so much better. Both contribute a lot to winning games. They do a lot of the dirty work. Meaning taking the most difficult situations and match-ups on the two ends of the court. They make others better. LD on the offensive, and Maxi on the defensive end. We are not the same team without the two, both the offense and defense, is just not the same.

Maxi is one of the few players in the league that has the defensive skills and athleticism to cover any posiiton on defense and is not afraid going against any offensive player in any situation. LD does that on the offensive end and is able to take any matchup, againt any defensive player, any place on the court, in any situation, at any point of the game. They just make the others and the team better. And they both contribute something on the opposite ends as well.

Once we are full strength, this team has more experience now than in previous seasons. We can clearly go further than first round now.

It does not control for anything having Luka miss these games. It is simply another KIND of data point. The issue has been that the TEAM has been unsuccessful this year (wildly for the most part) with Luka in his role as starter, etc. Having Luka out of a game completely, shifts ALL the roles and gives us a totally different set of data. 

Is it helpful to see the data without Luka completely? I guess on some level, but no one wants to eliminate Luka from this team, so it is actually some of the least helpful data we have. What we all want is for Luka to play and for the TEAM to be successful in outscoring their opponents WHEN he plays. Because when we get to the playoffs, THAT is the reality we will have. So we need to have lineups AROUND Luka that help the team/him have great winning success.
