This one surprised me.
Just from a pure basketball standpoint, a Luka+Jokic combo might be one of the most dominant ever.

Now you know that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the league....
Even if they weren't both amazing at basketball, we need to get Luka+Jokic together so we can always have some fun shenanigans to watch like the Rangers Beltre+Elvis days
Works both ways. Everyone in Denver watching those videos is currently busy convincing themselves Luka wants to come to Denver to play with Jokic.

It's a long time before Luka becomes a FA

Jokic is a FA after next year

Early on, Doncic, mid-answer, called over to Jokic, who waved back and then pelted him with a mini nerf basketball. The Nuggets’ star then found another and hit Doncic with it while leaving his media session.

“Can I sue him?” Doncic said — before throwing two more balls back.

With a shared Balkan background and Serbian language, the two have always appeared to gravitate toward one another during All-Star weekends.

Until Jokic on Saturday interrupted an inquiry about their friendship to set the record straight.

“I hate him,” he deadpanned.

“Off the court, we do a really good job [as Team LeBron All-Star teammates], but we’re going to see on the court. I don’t know how they’re going to do it because he’s not athletic, I’m not athletic, so I don’t know how we’re going to match up.”

I have no doubt DEN fans see these videos and fantasize like us about Luka joining the Nuggets. But like MFFL said, Jokic's contract is up next year. Luka is signed through till 2025.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but if Jokic and Luka want to play together then Jokic has a prime opportunity to make that happen. Couple that with MPJ's back and Murray's ACL tear, there's a little bit more weight about Jokic joining Luka than the other way around.

Let me clarify it's a huge longshot. Jokic seems like an incredibly loyal dude. I don't want to seemingly "poach" him away from the Nuggets because I absolutely loathe reading the same stuff from other teams about Luka. But watching these videos of the two goofing around these last couple of years and how great the fit between the two would be really does make my imagination run wild.

Let me present the "Denver" case.

1. Jokic is the MVP. He is the star between the two, not Luka. Same case like Giannis - players should come play with him.
2. Denver drafted him, believed in him and has showed they want and can build around him. They are extremely well run organization that drafts well, develops well and trades well. They were just extremely unlucky with injuries.
A couple of balkans boys teaming up is no different than a couple socal dudes teaming up on the clippers. Nothing like Miami, GSW, BKY

Might be the best shot of luka convincing a star to come here. We’ve been through this with dirk. If luka doesn’t convince someone to join up before his prime is up, it becomes difficult

The main reason against the Denver idea is solely because of Luka's contract. He has already re-upped with the Mavs and won't be available at the earliest of 2026.

5 years is an eternity in the NBA. 5 years ago KD just joined GSW after their 73-9 run. Lebron just came off an inhuman playoff run and beat those very Warriors on a different team. Demarcus Cousins was an all-star for the Kings and hadn't been traded to the Pels yet. Russell Westbrook "King of Triple Doubles" only had 37 at that point (he'd accrue 42 the very next season). Jayson Tatum was just drafted! Ok ok enough of the throwback examples.

Point is, by then Jokic will be 31 and who knows what Denver will look like or even what the Mavs will look like!

It's hard to project that far out. And if both of them want to play together, then it's easiest for all involved is if the first one leaves at the first opportunity and that's Jokic, since he'll be a free agent in a little under 500 days. Mind you this is all predicated that Jokic's desire to win and play with Luka supersedes his desire to stay with the Nuggets.

There are a lot of question marks surrounding the Nuggets roster. Will Murray ever be the same? Will the spine of MPJ last the length of his contract? Is their team even good enough alone while healthy to take on the titans of the West in PHX, GSW, and a fully loaded Clippers next year?

And now compare that if you're Jokic with the idea of playing with a 24 year old now-entering-his-prime Doncic who almost singlehandedly took down those Clippers with a middling roster and injured neck.

Again, I don't think it will happen. Jokic in all likelihood signs his super-max extension this summer. BUT if it would happen, odds are Jokic is leaving Denver.

Well said. We will know this summer. If he doesn’t sign the supermax. Then Denver would accept it’s just a matter of time and there would be a trade. This is how it works when any superstar wants to make a move.

It’s really all about Jokic. And how he and Luka do in the playoffs. If it keeps looking like neither will win alone while GSW/LAC/PHX control the west then why not

Great read as always. I'm warming up to giving him 80M/4y.
So dumb that it isn't Friday yet!
