To have enough cap room for a max offer for VO is hard, unless you don't mind letting both J-Rich and THJ walk. Plus more. In addition to those two, you might ALSO have to give away Maxi, or WCS, or DFS, but if not one of them, then probably several other players too. Added together, it feels like way more roster surgery than the Mavs would be interested in doing. And is VO worth ALL of that talent?

A sign-and-trade probably wouldn't be any easier, because you're adding more assets going to Indy, plus you have to satisfy trade rules. And trading players getting big raises, like VO and perhaps J-Rich, can make a salary match problematic.

Obviously where there's a will there's a way, but it would be quite a challenge. If it were me, I think the summer equation is so undesirable that I would be looking for a trade before the deadline, with the summer not really being a consideration. But that's just me.

Totally agree here. If Mavs want to improve, it makes way more sense to do it at TDL than in FA next summer. The cost of cap space is JRich and THJ (plus WCS and Bobi) and is actually bigger than paying a couple of assets next to salary fillers for a TDL trade. Hopefully those salary fillers are Johnson and Powell.

I said it before - Mavs need to decide about Brunson. He is great, but probably too good to be Luka back up playing 15 minutes per game and even less in playoffs. Unless they see him as possibly playing next to Luka, it doesn't make much sense paying him around MLE money for his next contract for those very limited minutes. I would sign a ring chasing vet min guy for that role. Basically what I am trying to say - this asset is expendable.

Josh Green is there somewhere (on the first clump), really wish he gets more opportunities
Who needs Gobert, when you can have his papa.

Jarrett Allen is destroying him. 19 pts, 8/9 shooting, 18 rebs, 3 stls and 2 blks in three quarters. Gobert shooting 30%.

Yikes. Is that Killian Hayes way down there in the Marvin Bagley III spot?

Jarrett Allen

You can have him? Since when is Allen available? All indicators say exactly the opposite.

Allen is RFA and Brooklyn is already deep in tax. They are in tax for next season even without Dinwiddie and Allen and just with 9 players on the roster. Since they were starting Durant and Irving buddy Jordan in front of him (I see Allen was starting this one for the first time this season), it didn't make a lot of sense paying large money for a back-up. So it makes most sense to trade him and find a cheaper back-up center.

Wise decision, of course, would be to dump DeAndre contract somewhere and make Allen your starting center.

That makes a lot of sense, if you believe in Brooklyn being afraid of the tax.
Looking at GSW I'm pretty sure that's not a problem to the Nets. They aren't the Kangs äh Kings.
Anyone seeing the rumors swirling that Draymond could be on the verge of getting moved

Lets see how much of tax will GSW really pay. I guess it is not a problem paying it, if you are successful. Since GSW is not really successful, there is already a bunch of rumors they want to dump excess contracts.

That is just a list of YOUR concepts, and perhaps YOUR preferences. But what is Brooklyn saying? (Pretty much the opposite.) My observation is that teams tend to keep the players they want, and try to get rid of the junk. What they are saying indicates they want Allen, and if they want him, that eliminates availability, since they have total control.

Are these new rumors? There was a tweet posted that GSW were thinking about moving him a couple of days ago. It'd be interesting if the rumors persisted. Could be there is a real fire to all that smoke.

Wow, I believe they would love to, I just can't figure out how. Giving away Green for trash, giving away Wiggings with two picks? Klay anything?

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has reportedly pushed the organization to seek a trade for Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green.
Sam Amick reported during a discussion on The Athletic NBA Show podcast Tuesday that Lillard and Green are close friends, which adds to the potential of Portland having interest in Green should Golden State rework its core.
"If we were handicapping Draymond trade destinations if the Warriors decided to blow it up...that's the one. Damian and his group have for the last couple years been campaigning for that," Amick said.
Bradley Beal has scored 57 points through 3 quarters, and he's only +4 in a game his team is losing by 10. I hope some team saves him soon.

Mavs could save him...just saying...
