Its almost like some fans want us to have assets(requiring patience and standing pat) while at the same time being aggressive which requires picks and players. Can’t have both. We aren’t at the point in Luka’s career where we go all in every season. Only desperate teams like the Clippers and Blazers are doing that and they have no rings to show for it

There are small moves that could have been made last TDL and this one to help restock our cupboard of assets.  Using our expiring contracts to take on short term bad salary while adding picks is what smart teams do when they aren't contenders.
I mean, Cuban outright told everyone 2 weeks ago he's not interesting in just swapping role players for other role players.  So I don't know what everyone was expecting.    Everyone makes a big deal out of expiring contracts as though its a huge asset, but expiring contracts aren't a rare commodity in the NBA to be coveted in and of themselves as trade pieces.   The bottomline is that NBA sellers are typically bad rebuilding teams that want good young cheap talent and or draft picks, and preferably both.

I'm surprised we didn't move Johnson for just about anyone on an expiring deal but that probably just says nobody wanted a swap.

But Johnson is our spiritual leader...
Nurkic will play Friday...

I think Mavs believe they are contenders based on their record when fully healthy this year.

Maybe they are too optimistic but you can't deny the roster has played very well of late.

Been going to games since before we had Rodman. I was there when we TKO’d the lakers in 2011. Think whatever makes you happy bama bro
Well, before everyone goes nuts....I'm out.  Catch you guys at the next game.  It's okay...Stage 11:  Don't care, got Luka.

I'm guessing building a team around a 22 year old superstar instead of a 30 something superstar.
5 minutes left...clutch time...you know what will happen with the Mavs...

Counter Point:  Trading Johnson really shouldn't impact that optimism.
I will be extremely surprised if Toronto doesn't move Lowry
