Rich get richer imo.

Ersan might not have a lot left to give, but UTA's bench is already so strong. Quality add.

He's one of the best charge takers in the NBA.  That in itself is worth a few extra possessions.  I'm sure he hasn't lost his 3 pt stroke either. Another bullet in the chamber for the Jazz.
Has anybody got this ESPN insider article about the three pointer? Looks pretty interesting.

What do you guys think about having a FOUR point shot, say, from around 40 feet?

I've wanted that for years.  I love watching Steph and Dame shoot but most guys are too scared to shoot it from that far.  A 4pt shot would give more dude the freedom to let it fly from way out.

Hard pass. The game is already mucked up with everybody and their mama shooting 3's. Besides, only Steph, Dame and Young would make them consistently. Would like the game to eventually go back to more post play.
Not my idea...saw it on reddit a year or so ago...

4pts for dunks.  Everything else the same.

I like this idea a lot if the league would do it AND let these guys have a little contact without a foul every time two guys in the paint rub against each other.  You cant play defense without a little contact.

You can have real battles down low and sharp shooting outside.

But...as always...REFS for some reason will not be able to find a satisfactory way to call the game and will ruin it somehow.  Like todays NBA.

And before anyone starts throwing math at me...it doesnt have to be 4pts...just more than the non-dunks and the current three point shot.  I say this because if there is an issue with the current three being 50% more than the two...just figure out a way the math works with Dunks as the highest shot you can score...long balls next...then lay-up mid-range.

My gut would be to turn everything back into a 2 pointer rather than introduce a 4 pointer.

I wish they'd bring back hand checking.

I think hand checking will fix the current boon of 3pt shooting quite easily. Hard to create all that space when the defender is allowed to slow you down.

SUPER interesting....or maybe just 3 pts for a dunk....but either way....I like that a lot I think.

not unless we have Dame on our team
I can see it now, Mavs up 3. final possession, Dame pulls up for a 4 point shot.. Mavs lose  Sad

Even if the Kings are looking to dump salary, surely they can squeeze way more value out of those three than two SRPs and Powell.

Im surprised more people dont talk about this.  It seems to make so much sense as far as adding something that will change the game but actually make the game more entertaining.  Dudes having serious battles in the paint...to dunk on and to not get dunked on.   Its what everyone wants but doesnt know it yet.   You have to allow contact though.   I wouldnt want the paint being turned into some No Holds Barred circus...but if done right it could make the level of intensity increase a lot, imo.

I see issues with transition dunks.  I guess you would have to learn to not turn the ball over as much and you would have to make sure someone or multiple guys run back on defense before ball is pushed up court quickly.

I see issues with refs fubar'ing this new rule.

I can see an issue with some basketball scholars thinking this will dumb down the skill level of bigs.   We are near a point where all positions are well rounded skill wise....do you circle back to wanting Shaq like bigs?  I think bigs should still be well rounded but learn to protect the rim better if this was to be tried.

Maybe this would ruin basketball...I dont know.  But...it seems way more interesting than 40ft 4pt line.  Dont even add a line...next line should be half court line anyway if there was a new long shot to be added.

AMEN. I think there should be huge incentive to dominate inside.
But the Kings can just flip Barnes to the Celtics for a 2nd rounder and not take back any salary

You could just make the rule that dunks count as 3 if there are 2 or more defenders in the paint at any given moment to get around transition wonkiness.

Actually maybe just 1 or more defender in the paint.

Or 2 or more defenders past the half court line. Something like that so as to not deter transition chase down blocks.

I don't know if I love or hate the idea but you have the pre-season and G-League to test out all these quirks.

I would prefer to see a successful dunk get an automatic free throw or two free throws if the player is fouled

And yes - allow the players to have a little bit of physical play in the post. No throwing elbows of course but a little pushing and shoving should be allowed
