Cubes is the one that ran Nash off. Donnie built a team (finally) that won a championship. Luka is arguably the best player in the league, especially if you account for his age. The KP trade was still good in terms of risk/reward even if it hasn't panned out. I suspect Cuban's meddling has caused more problems than it has helped. Cubes has gotten a pass while Jerry Jones who has been a figured head for years now still gets killed for being a meddling owner.
Results should matter. The guys at the top are two more losses away from completing a decade of lottery/1st round exit basketball.
There has to be change this offseason if we loose to the Clippers yet again. I don’t know what else to say.

They had an incredible amount of trust, resources and time to achieve more than they did. It’s just not been good enough for a long time.

Lose the coach that is responsible for a good looking offense. Give the job to the guy that managed to turn a bad defense into an even worse one.

Hayward left Utah for them, didn’t Horford (in his prime) also go there via UFA?

If Ainge is available I’d be all in favor of going after him. It’s not like the Celtics were bad under him, they advanced deep into the postseason plenty of times the last years. Sure he should have gotten them even further with the amount of assets he acquired but the results were still far ahead of what DAL produced.

So you think the Nets are getting beat by the Bucks?   Hmmm...

In my mind, I think there is no question as far as if. I think it’s a question of how many games. Bucks play defense, Nets don’t. Only way Nets make it a series is if the refs get too involved.

I can respect that. But you make it seem like the Nets are going to get a favorable whistle every call. I mean they do have 3 of the best scorers and players in the league. They are going to get calls, just like Giannis, Holiday, Middleton, Lopez, etc... Now how many calls they get opposed to the Bucks is up for debate, but they are going to get them. Those things have a way of evening out anyway. The Nets don't have to be the best defense in the league, they just need to get key stops, because they're going to score. Should be a great series, especially Giannis vs KD.

On a serious note, he might be a strong candidate for Celtics.
It seems they will most likely go for a black coach, with all the racism talks about Boston and some of the players they have (seems Brown is sort of SJW? not sure tbh but this what some folks in their forum say). Kidd and Lloyd Pierce are already candidates but they are bad ones.
They could go for an assistant coach who is known for his close relation with his players.

Also rumors floating around about Chauncey Billups, Sam Cassell, Dave Joerger,  Ime Udoka, an in-house assistant, Jerome Allen.  Guess we'll wait and see.
Donnie Nelson: If you never acquired Kyrie Irving or succesfully signed Kemba, Hayward and Horford in free agency, they would not have left you and you´d still have a job like me.

Oh man -- that's terrible. I'm not even a Charlotte fan and I still read a lot of his work. He was that good.
And while the Ainge news is sudden, I personally don't find it surprising. Boston has very serious cultural issues in the organization, big salary cap problems, all of the trade capital he built up over the years is essentially gone, and he's generally seen as a joke around the league where nobody takes the pro-Ainge trade propaganda seriously anymore. I can't blame the organization for wanting a change.

Now suddenly promoting Stevens out of the coaching job is interesting, though.

What do you want to bet that the Ainge/Stevens moves were decided back when Stevens was being courted by Indiana? And I wonder how the players feel knowing that the coach had one foot out the door all season.

I suspect very strongly the Mavs allowed themselves to be used as leverage for Kemba and didn't really want him. I don't believe Kemba chose BOS over DAL....I think he chose BOS over CHA.

DANG.....a playoff changer.
Here's a good overview of what Stevens is dealing with. Could be a busy summer for Boston.

https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2021/06...gency.html
Key for Celtics is moving Kemba. So, from Mavs perspective, are we willing to even discuss it? I think it would be difficult to find anything reasonable if we take Kemba. So how about if we include a third team? Would NY or OKC be interested to take Kemba into cap space for draft compensation, for example:

OKC: Kemba, Bos draft compensation
Dal: Smart and perhaps an asset
Bos: KP

Dal would get more cap space and defender we need. With roughly 50 mil of cap space if JRich opts out we could resign THJ (15 mil in year 1), Holmes (15 mil in year 1) and for example Markkanen (15 mil in year 1). Of course you only do the trade if you know you can sign those guys, otherwise you are stupid.

Luka, Brunson
Smart, THJ
DFS, Green
Markkanen, Maxi
Holmes, Powell
