Brook Lopez must be the most underrated center in the NBA. In fact so underrated even his coaches forget how good he is.

At one time, he was viewed as a bust.

A big part of it is how much improved those teams have become while we are still treading in the same water and continue our obligation of owed picks...

Agreed. Phoenix had one of the worst records in the NBA just a few seasons ago. But they made the correct hires for coach and GM.  Atlanta turned they're whole season around by firing Pierce, and hiring McMillan, and as their injured players healed they took off. The talent was there. It could happen for Dallas but they have to get it right with these hires, or risk falling further behind the elites and other up and coming teams.

Just trying to do some transitive math.  Who do we think has more value, KP or Brogdon?  If they are equal, I'd not want to give up multiple FRPs to get Simmons.

Brog maybe slightly, depending on the team, would be my guess.

I would give up KP + JB + 1st + another non-1st asset (player or pick) to get Ben.

Had they done this deal, they might have been in the Eastern Conference Finals....

I'd far rather have Brogdon than Simmons. Do that trade for Simmons and then flip him to Indiana for Brogdon and their pick.

JB is worth a first round pick.  A trade like this would be going back to pretty heavy inflexibility as you'd owe '23 to New York and '25 to the 76'ers.  That would leave you only 1FRP to play with for a short time.  Salary wise:

YR | LD | BS

2021-22 | $10.1M | $33M
2022-23 | $34.7M | $35.4M
2023-24 | $37.5M | $37.8M
2024-25 | $40.3M | $40.3M
2025-26 | $43.1M
2026-27 | $45.9M

Ben Simmons has a 15% Trade Kicker not factored into the above.

I could see the 76ers having interest in Brunson (maybe), but I'm struggling to see why they'd want to pair KP + Embiid and that's not even factoring in that's a nightmare pairing from an injury standpoint.  Probably need a 3rd team.

I wasn't suggesting that KP would have to go to PHI...could be a third team involved.

So you'd give up all of our remaining assets and destroy our ability to make trades for years to get a guy who can't dunk or hit free throws.

This would be a great plan to run Luka out of town.

I wish they wouldn't.  That's just asking for a Durant situation to occur.

I think it's pretty much guaranteed they would be. They literally lost one game because of Simmons missing 10 free throws, let alone his affect on the rest of the offense. Brogdon is an 86% FT shooter and 38% on threes.

Omg. Did anyone else watch the 3 on 5 highlight? I’m sold after seeing that!
